Does anyone know the history behind the decision to create standard and preferred view rooms at BWV? Why can't this same thinking be applied to VWL and BCV. I would gladly take a worse view (including the dumpster view) to save 6 points a night. Also this would give people who want a top floor view more of a chance to get it, for a premium.

My understanding is that DVC created the two tiered structure for BWV based on numerous complaints by members. At the time, BWV was not completley sold out, so it was still possible for them to establish the lower point category without violating any laws/contracts.

Since then, it has been reported that DVC will never do this again - apparently, it has been difficult/costly to manage the two-tiered structure.

IMHO, there will not ever be a standard view category with a lower point cost implemented for any other DVC resort.

Well said, CarolMN.
Also, keep in mind that BWV is far larger than BCV or VWL, so differentiation is a bit easier, since the individual classes are larger. I imagine that view categories at the two smaller resorts would be a managerial nightmare.

tguy47...Carol & pumpkinboy have done a good job answering your question on the history, and I agree that they won't be making any point differentials in the future for the same size accommodation at the same resort.

They could, however, move to a classification of views with the same point structure, similar to how they split the Boardwalk View and the Pool/Garden View at BWV preferred rooms.

Personally, I think it'd be more of a nightmare than it would be worth. Remember, the only reason they did this at Boardwalk was because so many people were throwing fits when checking in and finding out they didn't get a Boardwalk view.

I guess if VWL and BCV people throw those kind of fits on a regular basis, Disney would consider splitting the views at those resorts. But, IMHO, we won't see it happen.
