Ok maybe this is mentioned somewhere else but I cant find it. What is the difference in the standard vs value view rooms..and where are the standard rooms located at Jambo house? I am coming in March and have booked a studio for standard view. Kind of want to know where I can be expected to be staying and where is a good room to request.

thanks

Jambo standard studios mostly are pool view. There might be a few with a partially obstructed savanna view. No parking lot views. Those are all value villas. Value villas are smaller than the standard or savanna villas. The one bedroom only sleeps four, no sleeper chair.

there is no such thing as a "value view."

"value" refers to the size of the room - they are smaller than other units. view for value rooms may be savanna view, pool view or parking lot view (requests are not allowed).

most of the standard rooms at jambo house are pool view...a few may be obstructed savanna view.

We were in room 5522 over Thankgiving standard with savanna view. Great room with nice view, had the people pen below which keeps the animals from getting as close. We were VERY happy with the view!!!

Just to clarify, all the Value rooms are in Jambo House? Kidani Village has no Value rooms?

Once again. No VALUE VIEW. They are VALUE VILLAS because they are smaller in size than the standard and savanna view and they are all in Jambo House. They might be parking lot view, pool view or savanna view. You cannot request a view in the Value villas. These were the odd sized villas that resulted when they renovated the fifth floor.

The savanna and standard view villas are the same size, same set up. The value villas are smaller. The one bedroom does not have enough space to put the sleeper chair in the living room. You cannot have a fifth person in the value one bedroom unless the fifth person is under the age of three.

For a standard view, I had 5322 last month and it had a real nice view of the savannah.

I am interested to read this as I am pretty sure I have read several people saying you can request NOT to have a parking lot view. Surely that is still a request :confused3 Obviously, requests are precisely that, however it is news to me that you are not allowed to make requests (regarding view) when booking a value category room at AKV. Is this a recent rule?

They stopped allowing view requests for value rooms in 2011. Nevertheless, sometimes you can get a request past an MS person who is not up to date on all the rules. Likely the "not parking lot" view request that some may have put in is simply the result of the computer not rejecting that particular request and the MS person not knowing that no value view requests are allowed.

That was in Jambo. As an aside, the butternut squash soup at Mara tells me I have to stay at Jambo to be closer to it;)

Hmmm might have to check that out! Thanks for the tip!!

How many standard view studios are at AKV? How many at Jambo and how many at Kadani? They are larger than the value studios? I think I'd want standard view then and I wonder how likely it is to get 3 of them at 7 month window for Xmas time next year?

To answer your question.......yes, that is correct. There are no value villas at Kidani. Only Jambo has value rooms.

thanks everyone ..so it looks like i will be close to the lobby.?.that is really all i want. since it sounds like most standard views are of the uzima pool which is close to the lobby. A savannah would be nice.. but i can look at the animals anytime while I am there.

Stayed in a value twice. Had savannah view first time, pool view second time. With just me and DW, it's a great uh, value!

Another value studio booked for 2013.

We've stayed value view twice. With just DH and myself, these are wonderful. Once we had Savanna View, once Pool (really roof view). At first I was disappointed, but we were so close to an elevator that whisked us down to the pool without taking us through the Boma -- Jiko throngs that we probably used the hot tub and pool more than on any other visit. And our view was better than our two Concierge stays -- but anyone will tell you that. Plus there were newspapers near the elevator too! :thumbsup2 And there is a key-coded entrance before the entrance to Zawadi Marketplace that lets you into the elevator landing from the bus stop. Extra cool :thumbsup2
