standard view vs value view at AKV

We've stayed value view twice. With just DH and myself, these are wonderful. Once we had Savanna View, once Pool (really roof view). At first I was disappointed, but we were so close to an elevator that whisked us down to the pool without taking us through the Boma -- Jiko throngs that we probably used the hot tub and pool more than on any other visit. And our view was better than our two Concierge stays -- but anyone will tell you that. Plus there were newspapers near the elevator too! And there is a key-coded entrance before the entrance to Zawadi Marketplace that lets you into the elevator landing from the bus stop. Extra cool

This is exactly the type of information I am looking for on Disboards. I am also not sure which is better...Kidani or Jambo house for my family. We have two kids, 5, and 8. Thinking they will LOVE the splashpad area at Kidani, we are planning to just do parks during the day then have a picnic poolside with sandwiches/healthy stuff from the kitchenette at the room. No hauling plates back from Jambo/ Mara. Not that I dont' want some of the stew!!

Anyone else have helpful info...what about the bathroom division? I read in other AKL posts that Jambo studio bathrooms are designed more logically with the shower/toilet in one area and the vanity in a seperate area. In photos of Kidani studios, I've seen the toilet room off of the shower/vanity area...looks inconvenient if you want to shower in privacy....(a shout out to those of you with teens! :0

Has anyone got any pics of the view taken from a value room??

I'm so glad that someone reminded me of this thread-for a long time I couldn't post pictures, but I just got a new computer!
The first photo's from value room 5122. It's at a time of day when all the animals are at the barn, that's the only reason there's no animals in the picture.
The second is from standard view room 5322. Same time of day.

How many standard view studios are at AKV? How many at Jambo and how many at Kadani? They are larger than the value studios? I think I'd want standard view then and I wonder how likely it is to get 3 of them at 7 month window for Xmas time next year?

Don't know exact count but total can be found in the DVC Resource Center http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2823609 and standard is about 13% of all rooms. Note that despite that there are far fewer standard than savanna view rooms (which are about 80% of the resort), savanna view often books full before standard view does. That reflects that for low cost, members view value rooms the choice at AKV (which are often booked before 7 months out) and that the main draw for AKV is savanna view. The value studios are about 315 sq ft. Standard and savanna view studios are the same size, about 359 sq ft.

As to Christmas time, be aware that for Christmas week 2012 at 7 months out, value rooms were gone but both standard and savanna view studios (and other room sizes) were available at both buildings and that actually remained true for a while beyond the 7 month window, i.e., you could still get them for Christmas week during early June.

Jambo House 5016 Value Room. We stayed in this value room in 2011.
