Standard View vs Pool view - AKL

How bad are the standard view rooms from the Pool view rooms at AKL?

I really don't care about the view - I was more wondering about noise?

And if you have stayed in both the standard view rooms aren't any smaller than the pool view rooms right?

We haven't stayed in a standard view, but we loved our pool view. Savanna view wasn't available for our trip and since pool view was only $10 more a night, I took that and loved it. We were very convenient to the lobby, gift shop, and the elevator to go down to the pool and Mara. We didn't have any trouble with noise. All the regular rooms are the same size regardless of the view.

Was the pool view room close to buses? Curious as to what floors they are located on.

We had a standard view room down near the bus stops. 4th floor. We could barely hear the buses go by and being at the end of the hallway, we didn't have many people walking past the room. It was really quite good. We also had an elevator on the hall that took us down to the pool area and food venues.

If you do standard room, ask for Giraffe trail and high floor!

I had just posted about this on the AKL thread. I just returned from a trip where I stayed pool view on the 4th floor. Now I tend to spend a lot of time in the resort and sometimes take an hour or two nap in the afternoon. The noise from the pool was so loud because of the pool party that there was no way to enjoy sleep during the day. Evening was just fine. Nice and quiet.

So I, personally, would reconsider a pool view in the future. But if you don't care about afternoon peace and quiet, it's all good.

I was in a pool view room December 2010. Mine was on the first floor and it was incredibly convenient to everything. As the temps topped out at 5 some degrees that week, I never saw anyone swim so noise wasn't an issue!
