Standard view rooms unavailable for end of Jan??

I went to the website to book a January 2014 package. We want to stay at the Beach Club or the Contemporary.. and on the website both of these hotels do no have any standard view rooms available for the week we are looking for.

I decided to go through an agent thinking perhaps the website wasn't accurate... I mean how can all these rooms be booked this early? I didn't think it was possible. However, my agent gave me a couple quotes and also told me that standard view rooms at BC and the Contemporary are both unavailable for that week.

I am really confused... this is suppose to be a very slow week. Is there something going on I am missing? Does anyone know why all these rooms would already have been booked? Is there a convention I don't know about during the last week of January? Do Tour groups stay at these hotels and have already blocked out rooms?

It is starting to make me think this isn't the best week to go or I may want to rethink my resort choices... any thoughts?

They are the least expensive.

Is there a convention I don't know about during the last week of January?

BC has a convention January 30th and 31st. Haven't found anything at CR yet.

Not normally because of the high cost.

In my experience, the standard rooms are always the first category to sell out. They are a pretty small % of the total rooms at these resorts. Because they are sold out does not constitute a crowded BC or CR and definitely does not constitute crowded parks.
