We are currently trying to plan a trip on Jan of '04 and didn't know if anyone could offer there opinion/experience. BWV is our home so I'm debating booking a standarfd studio to save on points or a preferred and hoping for a BW view. I know there is no guaranty of a specific view but didn't know what others experience was booking at 11 months. We made our first trip home last January and booked at 5 months out and lucked out and got a BW view, right over the brew pub, it was really nice. The CM that checked us in said they assign rooms first by your request then by the date and time of the request, so I'd assume that booking off season at 11 months should give us a very good chance of getting a BW view. If anyone could share their experiences that would be great.

THANKS

My experience has usually been to go for the standard view and save the points when booking at 11 months. Ask for a top floor room and you will get a better view of the EPCOT fireworks. For the little time we spend awake in our room, the standard really is best for us.

We book at 11 months day-by-day for the BWV, calling at 9 am Eastern time when MS opens. We never got a BW view when we were booking preferred view, so now we just book standard. This has included stays during the first week of January both this year and last. In 2002 our PV was Luna Park. In 2003 our SV was the entry drive. In fact, we had a Luna Park view each time when we booked PV.

I once booked a 2 bedroom PV 11 months in advance. We went in Oct. 2000 and requested a BW/Epcot view. what a great room we got. Spaceship Earth had the "2000" illuminated and had great fireworks view. It was our first time booking thu DVC and took a lot of family w/us(some stayed in SV studios). Everyone loved the room/view and had a great time.
Our last visit was 9/25/01. Booked a SV without a request. Occupancy was really low due to 9/11. We were in room 4121 and it overlooked the parkinglot/entrance to the boardwalk lobby.
For a SV it was awesome. We could see the Eiffel Tower and had a great view of the firewoks/Illuminations again.
Since being in that room I have read that is one of the best SV room in the BWV but the room next door is the best supposedly since it is a little bigger since its on the corner and has a bigger balcony.
Its nice to conserve points on a short stay but when we had the PV, we were there for a week and it was so worth the extra points we used. Everyone is still talking about what a great room we had

I have found that you can't count on getting a boardwalk view no matter how far out you book your stay or how many rooms you are booking. If I want a boardwalk view I sell my points and then book the boardwalk inn and get what I want. For my larger family trips I book a grand villa to be sure of view. I did book six rooms last april and got very good standard view rooms on the third floor near the elevator with a pretty view of the front entrance. I actually found this location much nicer than all my preffereed view stays. I have found that preferred views are a real joke at the BW. Some include dumpsters or the back of the clown slide. I was given three of these on a family trip that had been booked 11 months out. I was really upset with the location for the number of points. Standard views are actually very pretty and hard to get. I now never get upset by location because its either a guarantee at the Inn or a standard view. Ofcourse the Grand Villa was the ultimate experience and view. Joan:Pinkbounc

Can you be guaranteed a boardwalk view at BWI? I thought the "water view" category could be boardwalk or quiet pool.

Thanks for all of the replies. I think I'll go for the Standard view and ask for the top floor. I think if I went for the preferred and got anything other than the Boardwalk I would be bummed every time I was in my room.

We stayed once in a one bedroom PV and once in a studio, we requested a 5th floor room overlooking the BW both times and got it with no problem. We stayed in a one bedroom with standard view twice, last time being just last week. It was ready upon check in at 9:30 a.m.! So I grabbed it! We had requested ground floor, but being that they had a 3rd floor SV ready at 9:30 in the morning we took it, unpacked and hit the parks. It was room 3101, overlooking the main drive, not a bad view at all, could see Illuminations fireworks from our balconies. Very peaceful at night and early a.m.'s. I like to sit out there in the morning before everyone else gets up. I'd take this room again, and it's way worth saving the points for us. No matter where you are, you'll be "home" - and not much can top that! :) Enjoy.

I have always been able to get boardwalk view when I book Boardwalk Inn and pay the extra. I usually call ahead and see if my request has been met if not paying with cash I would either cancell or book somewhere else.

We usually try for standard view, upper floor to save on points. We have had Luna and quiet pool as well. Never Boardwalk, but I have never asked for it. We like to save our points so we can go as often as possible!! At least we have that option!!

on my first trip I got the BW view - since then - no - so after 4 times of getting the main pool (which I hate) - I switched to the standard view - very happy - you are right when you ask for a BW at 11 month out and they kept sending you to the main pool you won't like it.
