Has anyone used a stand on stroller for their trip to Disney? I just saw the Stand On Tandem Stroller - Caboose by JOOVY, and it looks like a great idea.

I know alot of people like Maclaren volos, but they don't recline. This is a must for us!

I would love to hear any opinions! I'm hoping to get something by Monday, even if I do have to order online. My dd princess: is 5yo, and I need something that will last for our upcoming Disney trips. She's only 38 lbs., but most of the strollers are 40 lbs, or have terrible storage underneath! :confused3 Please help! I know I'm probably driving you guys nuts about my stroller dilemmas this week! Sorry!!! :teeth:

I have not actually used my Caboose at Disney but posted about getting one like you did a few months ago and got some good feedback that people liked it. I had my daughter grade 1 and son 2 yrs try it out at Babies R Us a few weeks ago and they liked it. DD never uses a stroller but on Disney trips and this is the first year son is going along so I need something for both, esp since it is just me taking them and I did not want to have to deal with two exhausted kids and no stroller or just room for one. It seems like it will work nicely and I got several nice replies to my post that others like them.

I was thinking about getting one of these as well. My concern is what is my older child gets sleepy? I haven't actually seen the stroller in person.

I have a Sit 'n' Stand from One Step Ahead. It is similar to the Joovy, but I bought it because there were some things about the Joovy that I didn't like.

That said, I love the Sit 'n' Stand. My kids are younger than yours (2 and 5 months), but we use it at Disneyland all the time. The main problem is that the front seat does not recline much (about 2 inches back) and our oldest fell asleep in it the other day at DL and he looked SO uncomfortable. However, he slept just fine. The problem was, I was left with nowhere for the baby to sit. I had to carry him for an hour, which was not fun. I was unprepared for this, as DS2 has never, ever, in his whole life, fallen asleep in any stroller, at any time. We just figured he was one of those kids who "didn't do that", so we felt comfortable with our decision to buy this stroller. We are rethinking that now...what will we do in the future if both kids want to sleep? I'm now looking at a side by side double to add to our collection. :)

The Sit and Stand works wonderfully to give the older kid a break when he/she wants, but also encourages independence and walking. It would probably work well for you, but so would renting one of Disney's double strollers, as your daughter is pretty much past the point of needing a stroller in day to day life. It's not worth the investment at this point, in my opinion, to buy a stroller that costs $120+ just for one trip.

We have a Sit and Stand that we bought from Babies R Us. We love it and used it last year at Disney. We use it for any day trip that will require a lot of walking. Our sons are 5 and 2 1/2 and although the front seat doesn't recline much, we roll up a small blanket to help cushion the 2 yr olds head. My five year old, likes the option of sitting or standing. We feel it helps with the walking and with safety. I feel like I get a workout pushing about 70 - 75lbs for the day. I would recommend this to anyone.

I have the baby trend version of the sit n stand. I love it! We bought it when my kids were 3 and 2 months. I will admit--it isn't light but at Disney, my job is to get the kids off while DH folds it up and carries it on to the bus. It was great for Disney. We take breaks while at Disney so I didn't worry about DS4 wanting to nap. It is great for the zoo, large malls. It have certainly gotten my monies worth.

That was the sit and stand we looked at when we were shopping for a WDW stroller.

We did not get it. My 3 year old liked it the best. We did not get it.

I felt like as long as he was standing the world was a better place. But if he got tierd and wanted to sit his view of the world would be my crotch. Too much to see at the world even if my 3 year old has sore dogs ya know... so we opted for a side by side and if my 3 year old wants to be on his feet he can walk along side of the stroller.

we did think it was a great stroller, but really just felt the world is created to be seen and any front back combo would leave someone not seeing it

Thanks for your input. I think a side by side is what we need. I wish we could just rent at WDW, but if they want to sleep, I imagine it would not be comfortable!

We have the Joovy! We love, love, love it! We looked at the Babytrend and it was much heavier and longer- bulkier. The Joovy has been our best stroller purchase yet (and we are big Maclaren fans). DD4 is about 40lbs and dd18 months is 22lbs or so. It fit so nicely on the monorail in any car since it is the same width as a regular stroller. It folds up easily for the buses and isn't too heavy for me to carry on and off of the buses and I can easily manage tossing it in and out of our minivan at home. We just got back from an outdoor concert tonight and I loaded the sleeping children in it plus blankets, etc to push over hill and dale back to the parking lot. It even off-roaded into the muddy/grassy parking lot without a problem.

It has a recline setting that is just fine for my dd18 months. When it is reclined, dd4 has to stand. When it is in the upright position, dd4 can stand or sit facing either forward or backwards (tonight she was facing forward with her feet in the basket). The basket holds plenty...and I usually hang a stroller bag or small diaper bag on the back when we are going on long trips (like a day in the parks). I also like the little pockets on the back of the seat where I keep a little tube of sunscreen and a little bugspray. They hold them tight, even when I fold it up, so I always have them with me. I imagine I'll switch this to lip balm and some extra mittens once winter comes.

My advice...buy this stroller...its fabulous (and looks cool too!)

A Baby's Best Friend (www.abbf.com) also rents these type of strollers. Never used them but have read multiple positive reviews on these boards. We will be renting from them May 07. They have side by sides, sit n stands, etc.

I debated getting a Joovy after reading many posts about it. I have a 4.5 DS and a 14 mos DD. When I figured how much a double rental would run us for our upcoming trip, plus the fact that if one or both of the kids were asleep when it came time to leave the park, I found that having my own was the best option.

I am a little worried about DD taking a nap in it as it doesnt recline much, and if DS wants to sleep it wont be comfortable for him. However, both kids can pretty much sleep anywhere and in any position. There is also the option of running back to CR for a nap and pool break.

Ive tested the Caboose out at the mall and zoo and so far like it despite its bulkiness (Ill take my Mac Quest over anything). I do dread having to fold the Caboose up and lugging it on the buses at WDW though, but thankfully that wont happen much since we are on the monorail loop. My son thinks its so cool to be able to sit or stand on the back. He also likes how the seat slides to reveal the basket underneath. One tip-I attached a mesh bag to the side to hold our ponchos, a rain cover and a sunshade for DS on the back (those flimsy type sunshades you can buy can be fit on the back). I can close the stroller and not have to empty out the mesh bag. You do need to empty out the bottom basket, so I will keep some diaper supplies and other items in a bag for easy/quick fold ups.

I don't know if I'm too late, but I just wanted to say that I would NOT recommend the Joovy. That's just my personal opinion, though, and if it works for others, that's great, of course! BUT, we owned a Joovy, and here are the reasons I don't like it (especially for a trip like Disney World):
- I could really feel the weight difference. With my older DD standing/sitting, it just felt hard to maneuver, I think because it's so long, and the weight was all in the back. I especially found it tough over uneven ground.
- Yes, the front seat reclines, but not much at all. Also, the seat back doesn't go very high, so as the child approaches even 33" or so, it's not very supportive. Also, it's not "comfy" at all -- very square, and without a good cushion to rest his/her head.
- It's heavy! When folded, it's big and heavy to carry around. And, to make matters worse, when folded, the wheels are locked, so you can't even drag it at all.

I actually sold my Joovy and another, very used and somewhat-broken Maclaren that I had and put the $$ toward the purchase of the Peg Perego Pliko P3. I LOVE it. My older daughter (4 in two weeks) can stand on the back, but it is still a breeze to push and maneuver, even on long walks, on uneven ground, up hills, etc.. It also folds really small and is pretty light. AND, it's super comfy for my smaller DD (2 in two weeks). When my older daughter totally outgrows a stroller, all I'm left with is a single stroller, which is all I'll need! For Disney (we're not going until May), I MAY purchase a really cheap, umbrella stroller that can literally be taken out only when really needed, but I think the P3 will pretty much suit us.

Good luck with your decision!

I second the Peg Perego P3 :thumbsup2 It will recline all the way, very comfy and easy to use. When older child is standing it is still a breeze to push. Hope this is not too late.

Thanks for all of the replies. We were able to try some of them out Saturday, and my dd loved the Joovy! However, I did see some of the other brand at Target, but they wouldn't take it down for me to try out. "Noone in the store to reattach it to the display...state regulation..." :furious: So, I'm still up in the air about it. I know my dd would love it most of the time, but when she's ready to nap, she's ready to lay DOWN. And, it does not recline very far at all! :sad2:

Can anyone tell me approx how much a Per Perego P3 is? I haven't seen it in the stores. I want to get a new stroller for when the baby comes and it would be nice to get one that my ds can also ride in, or stand, in the back, and that one sounds great. I like that it will recline more than the sit n stand. thanks!

Unfortunately, the Peg Perego Pliko P3 IS a bit $$$. Babies R Us sells it in all its various colors for $299 (you can find it online at strollerworld.com for $269 including shipping, but need to wait about 3 weeks for delivery). BUT, depending on the ages of your kids, you may be able to sell other strollers that you now have to finance the P3 -- that's what I did, and it did help. My daughters will be turning 2 and 4, respectively, in two weeks, and the P3 is the only stroller we have now. HTH!

I was looking at the P3 and found one at Allbee baby (not sure of how spell Allbee) online for 229 and 249 depending on color. I searched at mysimon.com and it brought up all the places that sold them and prices. You might want to try it out with your kids. I was going to get one and had my daughter and son try it out and my daughter found it very uncomfortable and did not like it at all. I'm glad I did not spend the money. But just my opinion. Many love it. We would up getting the Caboose and they love it.

I ordered online, don't remember the name of the place but if you google it I am sure you will find plenty, I may have even gotten free shipping. I do think I paid closer to $400, but I had to have the pink one so that may be it. Good luck.

One thing I do want to add is that it will only recline all the way if no child is standing on the back. You probably realized that but since you may not see it in person before you buy it I thought I would bring that up.
