Let me start back when I was 18...I met this guy who was 32 at the time, we dated for many years..around 5 on and off, broke up got back etc....well I haven't heard from him in 20 years and Saturday morning he called...with the "guess who this is" I had NO clue..he says "someone from your past" I said I had a lot of someones in my past....well turns out it was this guy..he was always a drifter sort, left his wife and three kids just before I met him...had a 5 minute conversation with him, with him saying "you don't know how many times I have driven past your house"...can I come over...NO...can you meet me...NO...can I call you again, NO...finally I said "give me your number and I will call if I change my mind"...well I guess that was not good enough, last night between 6-10 there were 12 calls from him, this morning more...finally I left a message on my answering machine saying "do not call me again"..well he called three times after that saying how good we could be together etc...it is really freaking me out!! At what point can I call the police? What do I need to call them...I am freaking out!!!!

That is the weirdest thing I've ever heard... honestly, I don't know what to say, but take care of yourself, this guy is half cracked :(

this guy is half cracked as the last poster said...

you have his home number...block it....ASAP....

if he continues by showing up on your doorstep....do NOT hesitate to call police....there are laws against harrassment...and it sounds like he could be a good candidate for the poster child for it ...

watch yourself.....there are ALL kinds of weirdos out there...take it from a gal who's worked ER for almost 15 years...

be safe!

YIKES!!!

STALKER!

Please notify the police that you have been blessed with one. They really should be aware of the situation.

Good luck.

I had similar problems before...

You have kids (pic) so I would first
of all get my number changed
and the new one unlisted,
(yes it's a hassle but worth it),
and call the police to see if they
can do anything for you.

Ask their advice, they won't give
you legal advice and they HATE
getting involved in "domestics"
but if you get someone caring he/she
may help you as best they can.

And the most important thing is this:
DO NOT SPEAK TO THIS PERSON AT ALL
ANYMORE - THAT IS WHAT HE WANTS
AND WILL SIMPLY BE ENCOURAGED,
EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT "NICE" TO HIM.
The fact that he's told you about driving
past your house, etc. is stalker terrority right there.
He's calling way too frequently,
and already has ignored your machine's
requests.

Others may disagree with me,
but believe me this guy's running a routine
that is tried, true and often turns out badly.

Watch yourself...

I'd call the police as well. You might even think about calling a victim's hotline. If only for advice from professionals. Take care of yourself and your DD.

I vote for calling or visiting the police! Don't risk it with a little one in the house! Do you have a security alarm?

Go to the police station yourself and file a report. They will tell you what to do from there.
I'm sure they would need proof. It would be his word against yours. The police will probably tell you to document everything he has done. And save any answering machine messages.
It would be up to you if you wanted to file the stalking charges or not. They police may need an okay from you and you would have to sign a paper that says you want to do that.
If you were in FL, without any threats of harm from him to you, he would be charged with misdemeanor stalking. He could get arrested and go to jail overnight. It would then become a case of the state you live in versus this guy. He may just get 5 hrs. of community service and be on his merry demented way.
If he threatened you with harm- then it becomes a felony stalking with possible prison time.

It depends on what state you live in. FL was one of the first states with strict stalking laws.

I also vote....Stalker and call the police NOW!!!

CALL THE POLICE NOW!!!!

My step-MIL had this happen to her. Being the nice loving laughable person she was...she met up with the guy. Long story short.... within 6 months he had convinced her to divorce my FIL (happiest marriage ever --- biggest shock to ALL of us)....and she was dead 3 wks later. Yes, he killed her.

And all the stories he had told her about his life to gain her friendship & sympathy for him....turned out to be lies later.

BTW......he's rotting in jail!!!!! :teeth:

Can I vote both??? I think if it were me I'd keep all the messages from your machine as "evidence" and then I'd be making some calls first thing tomorrow!

Good luck and stay safe!
Heidi

BTW -- assuming you are married w/ a name change.... how did he find you?

My SIL received a phone call from an old high school boyfriend. She had married; changed name; & moved from FL to NH YEARS & YEARS AGO. He found her.

I am a victim of stalking....I mean was. Call the police. It takes a long time for these jokers to face the music. You need to get started NOW, even if it turns out to be nothing. Don't waste any more time. I wouldn't change your number either. That may warrant house calls. You don't want that!!!! Contact your phone company NOW so you can get a trace on the line. They will ask you if you are willing to prosecute, so be ready to do hust that!!!

BE CAREFUL! If you don't have a home invasion alarm, you may want to get one for your own sense of security. Slepping can be difficult without it.

Call the police.

I was stalked once by an ex and recently feared another stalker (a guy from the internet who frequents another message board I do).

A good friend of mine was also stalked by a creep who attented a garage sale at her house.

Follow your gut instinct and don't take the risk.

The police won't be able to do much now, but at least you'll have reported it. Keep us posted and let us know you are safe.

My husband is a police officer. He said to defintiely file a report at the police station.
Let us know how it goes.
