This isn't restaurant related, but it is about food so I hope it's okay that I post this here.

During my recent trip, I bought 2 boxes of the Minnie's Bake Shop Character Cookies at the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney. They're the ones in a pink-ish box and the cookies are shaped like the Fab 5 in chocolate or vanilla. I'd never had them before but they were cheap and I remembered reading a recommendation from someone.

I opened the first box about a week ago. The flavor was okay, but the texture of the cookies was not what I expected. The cookies were soft, but not in a good way like soft chocolate chip cookies. Since I'd never had the cookies before, I figured it was just me and it didn't cross my mind that there could be something off about the cookies themselves.

But today I opened the second box which has been sitting in my desk at work. And I realized why people like these cookies. They have just the right amount of crunchiness which actually enhances the flavor. Yummy! I just wish I had some milk at work to go with the cookies. And now it's obvious that I didn't like the first box of cookies because they had gone stale.

Anyway, to get to the reason for this post, I'm debating whether I should bother to write Disney and mention that I got a box of stale cookies. I'm not exactly sure what type of response I'm looking for from them. While it would be nice if they'd ship me another box, I don't expect them to incur that expense. Maybe a refund? Or since it was only $3-4 should I just chalk it up to bad luck and let it go? What do you think?

I would chalk it up and just take the hit. Last time I was there I used a snack credit for a nutty apple at goofy's candy company. The apple inside was mealy and brown. I ate what I could of the coating and threw the rest out - oh well.

Yeah, I'd chalk it up to a bad box of cookies. If it were something very expensive, I would let Disney know. But it's $3 - and you did eat the first box of "stale" cookies.

I just got a bad box of pasta from Kroger (won't say how it was bad). I did get a refund but only because I go to Kroger once a week and it was convenient.

FWIW, I've had stale Minnie's Bake Shop cookies too. We brought a few boxes home and 3 of the 4 were stale enough that I wouldn't buy them again.:sad2:

Well, if 2 of you have had stale ones...maybe you should send a joint letter...not looking for anything but just to let Disney know. I am sure they aren't putting those out there on purpose....they obviously don't even know.

I would suggest you write a letter to let them know. Maybe you could mention that you are not asking for anything in return and that you just wanted to provide them with feedback as you like the cookies (when they are not stale) and plan on buying them on your next trip. I used to be in business for myself and felt that customers who gave valid complaints and suggestions were the customers that really cared about my success. It may be a small thing for you, but I'm sure that if Disney knew their cookies were going stale, they would want to do something about it. Good for you, for being pro-active:thumbsup2 .

Yikes, that's awful.

That makes sense. Would you recommend sending a letter by snail mail, or is online communication okay. I found this contact form on their website: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/contact/contactUs?id=ContactUsPage.

Check the expiration date...sometimes the outdated ones may get overlooked...

We had really stale potato chips at Wolf Gang Puck's Express in DTD. NEVER AGAIN!
