I need advice about stainless steel flatware. I like a heavy fork. I do not understand the # numbers on the box. Which brand is best? I want to get the best for the least amount of money. I'm not asking much. lol
Look for 18/10 stainless flatware. WHile you are at it get 1 more set than you really need. It is very expensive to pick up replacement pieces.
Oneida is still a good brand. I bought some Oneida years ago and now its 8 dollars on the average to replace one lost piece (Spoons often disappear over the years) So the origional set was only 40 dollars! Much cheaper to pick up one more box than you need if you really love your pattern.(which I do)
If I would sell mine off by the piece I would make a tidy profit!
I love my Reed & Barton. I got some several years ago at a grocery store promotion, but I wish I had a whole set. QVC has whole sets for a pretty good price and I hope to get the whole set one of these days. The pieces are heavy and have a great feel in you mouth because they are sooooo smooth.
I used to like Oneida until 2 different sets started to rust. We now have Reed and Barton 18/10 stainless flatware that I really like. It has a heavy feel and it it has not had that problem that Oneida had. I ended up buying 2 full sets and then ordering 8 extra teaspoons, they do tend to get lost.
