Sorry if this has been asked a hundred times before.

I have $60 Kohls cash and a 20% discount code. I thought it would work this way:

Buy $100 worth of items, minus 20% = $80, minus $60 KC = $20.

Instead it was like this:

Buy $100, minus $60 KC = $40, minus 20% ($8) = $32.

I did it online, but that shouldn't matter, should it?

Thank you!

The way Kohls did it was correct; they take off the KC first. They won't discount that. (which stinks, but I get it!)

Yes, that is annoying but that's how they do it. :(
It's the same whether you use the Kohls cash online or in the store.

Yes, I experienced the same yesterday.
Our store will no longer allow returns of clearance items purchased with KC - I found that out yesterday, too. You are permitted to exchange as long as the item is the exact same price.

It is correct: Kohl's math. You are usually better off to find merchandise that you KNOW you will not need to return for any reason, as close to the amount of your Kohl's cash as possible, and make that a purchase. If it is a little over the Kohl's cash amount, add your 20% off, otherwise don't bother with the second discount.
