stackable washer and dryer

hi there .. anyone have experience with them??
i am trying to help someone buy one as they need it for their condo.. any advice ??

don't get the front loaders, i hate mine. I had a top loader Maytag for over 20 years and just replaced it with stack front loader. I hate having to bend down to take out the wash and miss the top space where i can do some small folding.

thanks for you input !. but don't they have to be front loading to be stackable...
her condo is only allowing space for stackable washer and dryer combo, no side by side as I am used to ...

We had one in our old apartment. The one we had was brand new (in '08) and was a larger model. Even so, the washer only held small loads of wash... I would wash two loads, and dry BOTH together.

No, they don't. The top is angled back to allow for the top-loading washer to open. See these for an example.

this is a good tip .. i will pass it along !! what i learnt was that quite a lot of condos only cater for stackable washer and dryer .. there is no option to fit in a regular set....

this is good to hear !! any brand in particular that makes good set of stackables...?? oh yes.. a very silly question.. do they come apart or are they permanently attached...

I love my new samsung front loading stackable set. I can fit a queen size comforter in to wash with no problems. Just make sure that the person really understands how to take care of a front loader so that it doesn't get moldy and smell. I love mine because it uses very little water and is gentle on my clothes but can still get everything very clean.

Ours do come apart- that way you can work on them or move them easier. It is a front loader- although we have a "spare set" that was my dh's grandmothers- this w/d set is on it's last legs and when it goes Nana's set is a stackable top loader and dryer set.

I don't "love" the brand... but I do love the stackable factor!

i can see some of the benefits now ..
what you said the stackable factor.. but at first i was worried about the durability...
