Stacie's Journey for Weight Loss and the 1/2 Marathon Jan 09!

Hey Stacie---thanks for the pic!! Like the others said, it is great to associate a face with a name...and as Amy said, we can look for you during the 5k in January!! YOu are going to do so great!!!

I guess I should figure out how to post a picture on here!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Hi guys! Just checking in after the weekend! After the 20 min run on Friday, We went for pizza! And I wonder why I've gained a lb! Saturday, we just walked for 30 min and NOTHING on Sunday but a nap! :goodvibes I really don't know how some of you (and you know who you are...) do it! You must be the McEnergizer Bunnies!!! lol! :lmao:

So, for today... I'm working. whoo! Can you read the sarcasim??? Matt has to do 10 hour days this week (M-W). He gets off work on Thursday, but not Friday and we're going out of town to visit my cousins. So, I'll be doing C25K Week 6, Day 1 today alone. :sad1: But that's ok. I'll run around the office parking lot here while he's working. I only have to work 8 hrs days. This is the delima when you ride together...

I am sooo tired today! I had things on my mind last night and couldn't sleep. I know it was well past 1 before I went to sleep. Then, I must not have turned on my alarm. I set it, but did not turn it on so we didn't get up til a little after 6 and we were late to work. I hope my tiredness doesn't impact my workout too much today. I just ran 20 min (yipee) so hopefully this one won't be too bad. It has 2-3 min walking breaks between 5, 8, 5 min runs. To be sure I can do this. So why does the 8 min run concern me??? :confused3

I recieved an e-mail from my dad over the weekend and I'm not sure if he found this quote or made it up himself, but thought some of you might enjoy it. Here's the snibit from the e-mail...

"Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true." To some this may sound silly, but the end result is well worth the effort.

I was at my parents house on Wed when I did the 2-8 min runs with the 5 min walk break, which at the time was amazing for me and my parents are just so proud. My dad is very excited that I'm doing this 5K in Jan. Henceforth, the quote...

So, that about wraps it up for today... :upsidedow

Stacie

Hi Stacie,

Thanks for posting a picture of you and Matt. It's great to be able to put names with faces.:goodvibes :goodvibes

I hear ya about being tired today. I had a lot on my mind last night and didn't sleep all that well either. Here's some :wizard: for your day ahead....

Hope your run goes well for you today....You CAN do it, Stacie!:cheer2:

Have a great day ahead.

Sorry I haven't been on your journal in so long, but you KNOW how proud I am of you! You are inspiring me still not to give up on this 5K in May idea. I keep thinking of you whenever I want to give up and give in to this back pain and I KNOW we can do it together. KEEP GOING - YOU ARE KICKING BUTT!!! And don't worry about the 1 lb. - YOU'VE LOST 15!!! You'll get that one back off and more besides!

Love ya!

Hello!

Good luck today with day 1 of week 6!! You've done a great job so far and deserve to feel proud of yourself :goodvibes:

Keep up the great work!

Hi Stacie!!!

Good luck on your Week 6 of the program :thumbsup2 . I know the 8 min run seems daunting but I'm just certain that you can do it!!! Good luck running around that parking lot....and just ignore the strange looks you're going to get. Just kidding...you should see some of the looks I've gotten from my crazy running escapades. One comes to mind...returning back to BCV at Disney after a particularly warm (90 degree) run SOAKING wet and looking like I had accidentally fallen in Crescent Lake or perhaps ignored the NO SWIMMING SIGN. People weren't pleased to be standing next to me in the elevators ;).

Anyway...I'm so excited to watch your progress. You are doing SOOO awesome! :sunny:

Hey Stacie!!

Hope you run went well today...what a great way to pass the time waiting to go home....get in a workout!!!!

BTW--love the quote!!!!

Hope you had a great day!

Hi Stacie,

Congratulations on the 20 minute run. You are amazing. You have come so far so quickly. You dad should be prod of his little girl.:goodvibes I love the quote. It was wonderful to put a face to your name. You are beautiful.

Take care,
Beth

Wow Stacie, a 20 minute run, I am seriously impressed! Be very proud of yourself, you have earned that right. I loved the picture, you and Matt are a really nice looking couple, you are beautiful! Keep up the good work, loved the quote, that is sweet your dad did that for you. Really sweet!

Hi Stacie
i'm sure the 8 min rum will be no problem :)
Loved the quote your dad sent, its great that you have so much support :)
Have a great run in the parking lot!!

Good Morning all! Thanks so much to all of you for such nice comments!!! :grouphug:

So, the good news... Week 6, Day 1 was successful!!! I'm sure I did get some crazy looks as I was running around our the parking lot, but I tried not to look at the folks driving in their cars! I also walked an additional 10 minutes.

The bad news...I am officially up 1lb! :scared1: I know it's because of my eating. I think the pizza did me in. I was more active last week than the previous few, so it must be the eating... I've been tracking my weight and it seems that toward the end of each month, either I've stayed the same or gone up a little for the past 3 months. I'm still on the "glidepath" for one lb per week and will hopefully meet my goal of being down 20lb total by the 5K in January. It is frustrating, but I'm trying to not let it get me too down and focus on eating better.

Eating better will hard this weekend though... As mentioned previously, we're going to visit my cousin in MD. She is cooking a home-made apple pie! Yum!!! I know we'll be walking a lot though. We're going hiking one day (this should be interesting as I've NEVER hiked) and we're going to workout (walk) everyday. She does 4 miles at a 15 min mile pace 4 times a week and she's excited we get to workout together... I hope she's ready to run cause my Day 3 of running 25 min will either happen Friday or Saturday! She is taller so she may be able to walk and I jog!

So...For today. Hmmm. I brought my clothes to walk again, but my shins are sore today. I really want to aquacise, but I don't think Matt will get off work in time for me to make the class. :sad2: So, today may be a rest day. I plan to get up super early tomorrow to get in Day 2 before work. I've done absolutely NO packing yet and we're leaving from work tomorrow so guess what I'll be doing tonight...

That's about all for now. It's supposed to be really pretty here today. Low 70s! Maybe I'll take a nice stroll outside during lunch... I'd better enjoy it! It looks like it's going to be COLD in MD! Only mid 40s for the high!!!

Amy--Whew! I'm glad I wasn't in the elevator with you! :rotfl: JK!!! How do you run in 90 degree weather!!! I must say, your motivation is just crazy!!!

Thanks again you guys for such lovely comments and the continued encouragment! I appreciate you all so much!!! :flower3:

Stacie

Hi Stacie!

Great job with day 1!! That's motivation for you...to be able to complete it in a parking lot...says a lot about how determined you are in achieving your goal...nice job!!

Don't sweat the weight issue. I bounce up and down all the time and it seems to have no real correlation with what I've been eating. I know that water weight has a ton to do with it, as well as the time of day. I don't know if I've shared it with you, but I've begun just averaging my weigh-ins over the course of a month. I weigh myself two times a week at the fitness center and then just average it out over the month...then compare month to month...what seems like 1-2 lb. fluctuations actually turn in to a steadily declining overall weight for me. Moral of the story though is to just keep up the great job that you are doing and the weight will definitely decrease :)

Take care of those shins!! (how old are the shoes that you walk & run in??)

Have a great day :goodvibes:

Hi Stacie,

I just want to check-in and see how your training is going. You are such a motivation!! At this point I can't even fathom doing the 8 minute run much less the 20 minute run. I am repeating week 1 so my poor knee is slowly eased into this new routine. Keep up the great work!!

All my best,
Kim

Wow - great job on running the parking lot! I don't know that I would have had that much determination. And don't worry about the 1 lb. - it will come off!

Hope you guys have lots of fun in MD - tell the cousins I said hi!

Susan

Hey Stacie--WTG for getting your workout in while Matt was still working!! you are so motivated to get your workouts in...that is great.

As I said in the weekly thread, make sure you give your shins a rest day if they are hurting, you don't want them to get worse. Try to ice them after running if they are hurting. And, as Scott mentioned, how old are your shoes? That can make a HUGE difference. I was having some shin and leg pain a few weeks ago, and after getting a new pair of shoes, leg pains are GONE!!!

Have a great time in MD! And can you please send some of that 70 degree weather up here to NJ...it is getting too cold for me up here!

Good Wednesday Morning!

So... I woke up at 4:15 am this morning and it took me 45 min to convince myself to get out of bed and go outside and do my workout! :goodvibes I knew if I didn't get it in this morning, it wouldn't happen at all. I didn't want to do the parking lot thing, get all hot and sweaty and then have to drive 6 hrs to MD! So today was Day 2. Run 10/walk 3/run 10. I did it! I'm still have this leg pain though! The workout might have actually been enjoyable if my legs hadn't been hurting!!! :headache: I just am still having a hard time stretching that muscle--the inside of my lower leg. It actually feels like the pain in now moving up my leg. It was just at the very bottom, now it goes from my just above my ankle to mid-leg. Calves, yeah, no problem stretching those, but how do you stretch the inside of your lower leg??? I'm trying to do some of those shin stretches too.

My shoes... maybe I'm tying them too tight??? I just got them a month or two ago. Still look brand new. I only wear them when I'm training and at this stage in the game, I'm not putting many miles on them. They are the New Balance 1223. Suppose to offer stability. I really hope they are not the problem. I like them alot. I went to Fleet feet and the person said my foot turns out and then in as I run so I needed a "stability" shoe. I tried on 3 different pair and these felt the best... They cost an arm and 2 legs! :lmao:

Yeah, it never got to 70 degrees yesterday! It was still cold!!! Today??? Who knows?

I think the office will likely be pretty quiet today. Since my legs were hurting after my workout this morning, I decided to not wear my "dress" shoes as I won't likely see many people today and I opted to wear my Mickey Mouse crocs!!! :goodvibes I wonder though...How much support do they offer your feet???

As mentioned, we'll be away so I'm not sure how much journaling I'll get in. The cousins do have a computer so hopefully I'll check in at least once (after my scheduled 25 min run!!).

Hope everyone stays happy and healthy! I feel like I'm coming down with something. My throat hurts a little and my ears. I can never tell if it's sinuses or just a cold??? :confused3

Ok--off to catch up on you guys!!!

Stacie

Good Morning Stacie,
Yes I have found that shoes do make a difference. My right foot seems to cramp up on me at the ball of my foot though.I am glad you found a pair. You are doing great with your workouts, keep it up. Thanks for keeping up with me on my journal, it definately keeps me going to read what everyone is doing.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Linda

Hi Stacie,

Sorry to hear that you are still having the shin pain. I wish I knew what to tell you. I will tell you that my podiatrist hates crocs. He is having a lot of kids and young teens come in with fallen arches because there is no support to them. I of course, still wear mine.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Beth

HAPPY THANKSGIVING STACIE!!!!!

I hope you are having a GREAT DAY! Just wanted to say once again how proud I am of you and all that you've accomplished :). :thumbsup2
