St. Thomas, Hawaii or Montana?

Has anyone exchanged for Hawaii or St. Thomas' Westin? I'd like to hear your experiences. How about Big Sky Montana?

I've exchanged for the Cliff's Club on the north shore of Kauai. We really liked it. It's not on a beach, but located on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Beautiful area, but not a lot to do. Anita.

We stayed a week on the Big Island and a few days on Maui with DVC and a week on Kauai before DVC.

Hawaii is beautiful, no doubt about it. I intend to go back as soon as I can take being crammed into a plane that long. In my opinion, the Caribbean has better water. The water I’ve experienced in Hawaii was not as clear and snorkeling was not as exciting as I found in the Caribbean.

While I thought the ocean was not as nice as the Caribbean, the land in Hawaii is breathtaking! You won’t find anything as beautiful anywhere in the Caribbean.

So, I guess you have to try both!

Ps, the luau we attended at the Polynesian in WDW was far more authentic than the one we walked out of on Maui. We picked the wrong one.

I've never used my points at any of these locations, but I have been to St. Thomas (I also use to live on St. Croix) and Montana (Bozeman). I wouldn't go to St. Thomas - crime is really bad! Montana is beautiful and the people are friendly. I've had relatives that have lived in Hawaii and they loved it. If I had to rate them:

1. Hawaii
2. Montana
3. Any place besides St. Thomas

Been to Hawaii many times and have used points for both Kapalua, Maui and Mauna Lani, Big Island. Beautiful. Been to Caribbean many times (not on points) but IMHO it can't compare with Hawaii. There are probably people out there who don't care for Hawaii, but I have never met one. Disney and Hawaii are the 2 places that I plan return visits even before I have finished a current one.

Wow... lots of crime in St. Thomas. ? We've been there on the cruise and it seems so beautiful. Are the crimes targeted at tourists?

It was nice to hear the comparisons between Hawaii's beauty and the clear water of the Caribbean. Of the islands w/ resorts we can exchange through DVC. Do you have a favorite? Why?

Hello - The Westin is on St. Johns, I believe. Also, I have been to St. Thomas twice and have never heard that crime was a major problem...maybe you should check that out more fully before you make your decision. Sandie

My DW and I are also debating about the Big Sky Resort in Montana for a trip next year... From the research we've done, it looks beautiful...

The resort itself is about a 45 min. drive from Yellowstone, and about 6-7 hours from Glacier National Park...

We used to live in Montana and headed over to Yellowstone several times - Glacier Park once. Big Sky is a pretty nice resort, haven't stayed there, but have heard from others that it is nice. That 45 minute drive depends on the weather and the critters on the road, plus the speed you're driving.
