This excusion sounds fun and I think my DS 4 & DD 5 would enjoy, but is it worth the $250?

My DH would not be happy if it isn't awesome.

Thanks!!!!!

My wife and I did the sub tour about 18 years ago and enjoyed it enough to want to take on kids on it on our 12-27-03 cruise. Tryed booking it 60 days out and it was already sold out.
So, I can't say if it is still awesome, as it was 18 years ago, but IF you do decide to do it, make that decision before the deadline and hope there are still openings.

I can't say what this excursion will be like in St. Thomas, but my husband and I did the Atlantis excursion at Grand Cayman Island. It was great. We saw a lot of beautiful fish and coral and sponges. The trip was about 45 minutes. My husband also went on the Atlantis excursion on Cozumel and said it was wonderful.

My family went last year over July 4th. We enjoyed it very much. When you first get off the boat you take a taxi/open air truck to the dock where a boat takes you out to the location. It is about a 10 minute ride and it is fun to see the Magic and the sights from the boat.

Once you get to the location you will see the Atlantis docked and you will dock right next to it so in an orderly fashion you will wait for the people who may be coming off the Atlantis before you get on and then you board.

I found some photos that I took from last year and posted them below. The photos are in order which would be the sub from above, the passengers loading on the sub, a photo of a small shark through the porthole, and lastly a photo looking forward of the tour guide/pilot who takes you to an approximate depth of 100 feet where you can see some cool fish.

Please keep in mind that luck plays a big part in what you see, some trips have better results (more fish to look at) than others.

Have fun,

Jeff

We took our then 4 yr old son on it and he still remembers it at his current age 8.

When we went on this years cruise we decided to not do it again, but will do it when we cruise when he is 12.

My basic opinion is that while the kids and adults will love it, because of their young age, it is not an experience they will remember the rest of their lives.

Spend $200 on their college fund and $50 on a day at the beach or Coral World or something else they will enjoy.

Thanks everyone!

I think I will be trying to convience him that this would be a good choice:hyper:

we went on the submarine ride this past January. It was just my DS6 and me. We had a great time. The boat ride over is about 10 mins to Buck Island and you then climb down into the sub. We went about 85 feet down and saw some neat sights. Huge lobsters, some sharks about 5 feet long. Remnants of a sunken fishing boat, turtles, eels, barracuda, etc. as well as lots and lots of smaller fish that swim right up to the window. it was worth it to us and my son still talks about it. They also give you a dive certificate at the end. Have a great time.
