St. Patricks Day plans

The same thing I do every year.

Make Corned beef and cabbage. Then put on the Quiet Man.

One of my favorite holidays of the year.

It's one of my favorite holidays, but I'm not sure if we'll do anything. I may buy everyone a scratchoff and play the Pogues and Dropkick Murphys all day.

Nada. I have to be up at 4am for work the next AM.

My DH goes downtown to Corktown to the bars down there. He is really looking forward to it!

Friday is My son's Bday, so celebrate that. Out with friends after :cool1:, and the Parade on Sunday. :)

Got you beat, have to be up at 2 am for work the next day. We did our Corned Beef and cabbage last Friday night.

I've partied enough on previous St. Patrick's Days so that I don't have to contribute to the partying ever again. :rotfl2: I'll wear some green.

I might remember to wear something green.

Mom doesn't like corn beef and cabbage and I could take it or leave it. So, we're not really planning much of anything.

I'm a bad Irish.

Depending on the weather and how my mom is feeling (she is having eye surgery on Tuesday) I may head into Downtown Cleveland for the celebrations and parade. If not I'll just stay home and bake cupcakes to go with out corned beef sandwiches for dinner. I will however where my St Patty's day shirt no matter what.

It's a high holiday at my house.

The day starts with my daughter wearing a special St Pats day outfit, we get something for her every year. This year it's a tee shirt with a sequin shamrock on it, black leggings and a little green tulle St Pats Dat tutu that I got at Claires. She wears a slew of green beads and will have green streaks in her blonde hair!

Her lunch will be St Patricks Day themed, everything green!

That is it until around 5. She is going to my Mom's and DBF and I are going out to a local bar. We will be wearing St Patricks Day tee shirts, hats and beads.

Then we get our party on!

I love March 17th!

Not much. We might have some corned beef (no cabbage for us) and Irish Soda Bread but that's about it.

I'm Irish but don't care too much about St. Patrick's Day. Must be something wrong with me..

I'll make up some corned beef and cabbage and probably a green colored dessert...grasshopper parfaits or something of the sort. We don't really celebrate too much, but I still like to do a little something.

My Dad's birthday is Wednesday and my Grandfather's was on St.Patty's Day. THough my Pa was not Irish at all, he would make a big deal out of it. My Dad would always find a way to sneak in something orange just to get Pa going. It was always so comical to see these two picking at each other.

Wearing green and watching MSU take on the Bruins in March Madness basketball!!

We'll be in Vegas. During the day at the Nine Fine Irishmen party at NYNY, and in the evening meeting up with other friends in downtown.

No idea. Haven't thought that far ahead. The closest authentic pub to my house is actually Scottish.

If we stay home, there will be no corned beef and cabbage in our house seeing as it is more Irish-American than Irish. If we do cook something Irish, it will be lamb stew. But our DD would probably baulk at that idea.

My Irish Gpa loved his corned beef & cabbage so since St Pat's Day is also his birthday (he passed years ago) we always do corned beef & cabbage for St Pat's Day, we also have rainbow cupcakes and this year I'm going to make Soda Bread. :) I'm also hoping to have Darby O'Gill & the Little People on DVD to watch. :)

Other than cornbeef and cabbage are there any other traditional St Patty's day meals? I am going to google lamb stew and soda bread, but is there anything else?
