July 12th isn't that far away and I'm starting to work on our shore activities!!!

Seems I read a discussion on this board about a beach in St. Martin that had water sports, a water trampoline, umbrellas, etc. My mental picture is something like Playa del Sol in Cozumel. Now, I can't seem to find it.

So, does the above ring a bell with anyone? If so, what's the name, how much does it cost and how do I get there? I'd just as soon not pay Disney's excursion price if I can take a taxi and pay an entrance fee.

Your help is appreciated.

We've been to St. Maarten 3 times and each time we go to our favorite beach spot (originally recommended by the DCL staff) namely Kakao Beach. There is no cost for admission to the beach. Rental chairs/umbrellas are available. The food is fantastic and there is water trampoline near by along with the rental of numerous small personal watercraft (sailboats and jetskis). It's a great place! It takes about 20 minutes by taxi and costs about $5.00/per person for the ride each way.

Thank you for the information. One follow on question - while I've heard that all beaches are "clothing-optional" does Kakao beach seem to attract mainly families (read: wearing clothes).

We're wanting something we'd enjoy taking our 11 year DD to.

My family and I just returned from a Eastern Cruise. We decided to take everyone's advice and try out Orient Bay Beach and we picked the Kakao part of the beach to set up for the day. It really is a great beach and seemed to ahve a lot of activity going on around you.

Yes, you will see some topless women and I did see some men & women walking down the beach with nothing on.....but, I have 2 ds ages 5 & 3 and I thought this would be a problem for them. Well, they didn't even really notice. They were so busy playing in the sand and in the water. At one point a 70 or 80 yr old man walked nude past my one son and he looked at him and then looked at me and said "YUCK!" but that was all that was mentioned about it the whole day.

There were lots of famlies there and none of the other children seemed to be bothered by it either. I would say there were about 10 total for the whole day???????

I hope this helps,

Does anyone know if Disney takes you to Kakao beach when you do the Orient Bay excursion?

We had kids from age 8 to 14 with us when we went there. The above poster whose son said "YUUCH" pretty much hit it right on. Playboy it's not. Your children will not turn into perverts. Besides, you might see something that will give you a good laugh for some time, a lilly white fat guy with flaming red cheeks (if you know what I mean:o ) He got all he deserved and gave us a laugh too boot.
