We love St. Augustine! I consider it my 2nd home!
We go there nearly every summer, &, in fact, will be there this June!
Some of our favorite places to eat -
Saltwater Cowboy's (off of A1A - on St. Augustine Beach)
the Oasis (on A1A - on St. Augustine Beach)
Creekside (off of the main road that runs behind St. Augustine, in the more contemporary section of St. Augustine)
Spanish Bakery (downtown, on St. George Street)
Barnacle Bill's (the one downtown, not the beachside one)
the Columbian (downtown, on St. George Street)
This year, we're trying Cap's on the Water & Mangoo's Mangoos for the 1st time.
Some of our favorite things to do -
Castillo de San Marcos
the Lighthouse
Alligator Farm
Spanish Quarter Museum
shopping & strolling on St. George Street & all the little side streets
the original Ghostly Haunted Tours
Scenic Cruise on the bay
Ripley's
the Lightner Museum - if you like Victorian antiques
The Fountain of Youth & the Old Jail are also good for first-timers - we're taking our kids to the Fountain of Youth this year since it goes along w/ some of the things they learned in school.
Whetstone Chocolate Factory offers free tours w/ a free piece of chocolate.
The gardens of Nombre de Dios (where the tall cross is) are also free to tour.
We normally stay in a condo on the beach. We love Coquina Condos, but, this year, we're taking my parents. We had to find a 3 bedroom condo, so we're staying at Colony Reef. We also really like the Hampton Inn on the beach - this is where we stay we're stopping in St. Augustine on our way to or on our way back from WDW.
Have fun!!!
