I am headed to Disney next week and we are going to stop in St. Augustine on the way down to go to the lighthouse. We should get there for a late breakfast or lunch. Does anyone have a recommendation for a casual place to eat?

TIA!

The only correct answer to this question is O'Steen's seafood, on A1A south, cross the bridge, only a mile or so north of the lighthouse. Best fried shrimp and fresh veggies in the known universe. True local Florida coastal food. They open at 11 am, no reservations, might be a line, worth any wait.

Harry's is good and a great setting but they are New Orleans food, not local.

Pizzalley is our favorite for pizza, but it is just cheap pizza by the slice. If you want a meal I'd go elsewhere.

If it is breakfast then The Bunnery (ironically right by Pizzalley) is really good.

Avoid the Santa Maria at all costs.

Good suggestions, if you are looking for a nicer place,
table service' place, right on the beach is a place called "Fiddler on the green". Beautiful views of the ocean and excellent food. Higher priced than the other suggestions though.

Sorry, the one and only place to eat is Columbia of course, lol

ok, now i'm drooling for 1905 salad and a cuban !

I'm going to second The Bunnery. They have great breakfast food and terrific cinnamon rolls! When you walk in, look to the small stand on your left and pick up a See St. Augustine book and towards the back you will find a 10% off coupon for breakfast or lunch. I don't think they are opened for dinner. They are located on St. George Street. If you want gelato go to Cafe de Hidalgo. They have great gelato and coffee. They are located across from Columbia.

Over on A1A there is a restaurant called the Oasis. They have good food and it's always crowded. We've eaten there once, but prefer The Bunnery. We like the atmosphere of the historic area and the cool shops even though the Oasis overlooks the ocean.

Enjoy your time in St. Augustine, it's my favorite place next to Disney.

Loved the Oasis. We had breakfast there on our trip a few years ago and it was very good.

The Columbian - right on St. George Street, one of the oldest restaurants in Florida (the original one is in Tampa)

The Spanish Bakery - also right on St. George Street. It's wonderful!!! We go there at least once (& sometimes twice) a trip. It's a lovely, little authentic Spanish kitchen, & you eat on picnic tables outside. The empanadas are soooo good!

The Oasis - on A1A, fun little lunch place!

We also really like Barnacle Bill's (the one downtown - not the one on A1A) for lunch - very casual, simple seafood.

And Aunt Kate's on Vilano Beach is also nice & is on the water.

We also like Harry's which is across the street from the bay, but it's not really "traditional" St. Augustine.

A1A Aleworks is wonderful & gets consistent, rave reviews every year, but I'm not sure it's open for lunch. (The chef, I believe, is up for a James Beard award.)

Fiddler's Green used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but I'm not sure they're still open.

I think, though, if I were only going to St. Augustine for one day & wanted to eat in a restaurant w/ "atmosphere", I'd choose The Columbian!

Have fun!! We love St. Augustine! We go every year, & I always have a hard time deciding which place is my favorite - St. Augustine or Disney!!
