All About Fixed Weeks (RIV/CCV/AUL/VGF/POLY/TOWER/VHD/FWC Charts)

That sounds like some kind of AI? Maybe this is new?

I've cancelled many times via chat, and it's always just been a regular CM, as far as I could tell. Nothing like that. It took a few minutes to return my points. But I still haven't cancelled for 2026, so the last time I did cancel via chat would have been January 2024-ish.
Yeah this new style of chat started like a month ago for me. I thought last time it was because I was in private browsing and it did not recognize me. But today I was not I was only using my VPN.

If you cancelled to rebook to save points you have to do that at 11 months and since it doesn't get processed immediately you may not know when to be checking to book and a waitlist or someone else could get the room.
oh, I didn't realize you had to wait to cancel at 11 months. Definitely a gamble then on hard to get weeks/rooms. I had hoped you could cancel prior to 11 months so the points were there in advance. I do know if you use the points that automatically cancels the FW, but for someone like me that has their FW the same month as their UY, that does make it more challenging to do that too.

Im actually not 100% sure that you have to wait. I just never get around to it until after. But even if you can cancel prior to 11 months you are still risking not being able to get it when the 11 months opens up. So if someone is betting on cancelling a FW to rebook to save points it's not really a safe bet. I only bring it up since I seen a couple times that mentioned by some as a way to skate the extra 10% FW booking cost.

You don't. The booking is made sometime after 12 months, but before 11. You can opt out anytime before the reservation is made, and if so they won't book it for you. Instead, the points will just be in your account. Opting out is a one-way trip, and a permanent decision.

Here's the way I think of it. I can pay an extra 10% to not have to play fastest-finger. Or, I can take my chances with everyone else. But, I do not know of a way to automatically be guaranteed the booking but recover the "extra" points.

If I really wanted that specific week some year, and I thought fastest-finger would otherwise be required, I would just spend the extra 10%. It's worth the peace of mind for me.

A person could book the same week with banked or borrowed points to save the FW points premium, and then cancel their FW reservation. However, if you use borrowed points that messes you up for the FW the following year. I won't be using my FW for a couple of years so I might give it a try to bank points ahead to use that strategy, but I probably won't have the restraint to save up the points 😄
