Has anyone ever spent a day in St. Augustine? We drive down and were thinking of seeing maybe some of the historical sites and maybe going on a ghost tour at night then continuing on to Orlando.
Any suggestions for restaurants as well as sightseeing would be appreciated.

A couple of years ago, I drove down for the day while at WDW. It was great. I parked at one of the trolley tour parking lots and paid for the tour, it included admission in to several museums. Then all I had to do all day was ride the trolley from one place to another while the trolley tour pointed out all sorts of points of interest. I highly recommend the trolley, I would think it might be hard to park in many of the places and to see everything on your own. Also, when I left St Augustine, I drove up to the lighthouse and then drove the coastal highway back to WDW (for a while.) Really, beautiful. I stopped somewhere near Daytona and walked the beach and watched cars get stuck in the sand. Loved it.

Thank you. We have been to WDW so many times and next year we are going to schedule a couple of extra days to explore around the area. I did not even realize you could take the costal road! We have tried to do one new thing each year.

we stopped last June it was great they have a light house you can climb to the top of and look out and a really cool fort you can tour we also liked walking down the beach. We will stop again when we go down next summer

Definately do the ghost tour - we did it a few years ago and it was a lot of fun. You could spend most of the day touring the fort and the old city. Lots of tourist shops in downtown. If you get tired of that there's a great factory outlet shopping center outside of the city with a Beall's (sp?) outlet mall across the street. There's a state park (Anastasia State Park) nearby that's nice. Then there's always the beach!
