FLorida during the winter months sounds great! My parents may be down next winter, seeing if they want to buy a home. I tried to convince them to buy an RV but they live in a 4 BR house right now and I think they'd fight a lot. 
I've been doing a little research, and there are vacation rental homes in the general Orlando that are less $$ in winter than homes in other areas. I assume this is because of the drop in tourists in Orlando vs the influx of snowbirds elsewhere. It seems like a decent home base if they don't want to spend a lot of money, and want to explore many areas of Florida. They really aren't sure where they want to go.
