Has anyone stayed at SSRS? Can't find a post about it at all. Is that a good sign or bad????

We stayed there last fall and loved it! We had a two BR close to the walkway to DD and looked right out at DD. We had a water view. We were close to DD and the playgound area. It was a walk to the foodcourt area but it was so beautiful we did not mind. The bus service was good while we were there. We would definately stay again. I found it to be the most beautiful resort on property.

SSR is a great resort. It is a DVC resort so you'll find alot of info on the DVC boards. It is our home resort and we have stayed there twice. We will be back there this Nov. It is so nice and we have gotten lucky with our rooms having views of DtD. There is a zero entry pool with 2 slides, one for little ones and one for us big kids! There is also a water play area for the kids with the water shooting up from the ground. Currently there is only a counter service place to eat, but they are adding a sit down restaurant called the Turf club which should be open in the fall. The resort and grounds are beautiful. It is also within walking distance to DtD and there is also a boat that can take you there. Buses will take you to the parks and we have had pretty good service here. Feel free to ask any specific questions.

Can I ask...where are the DVC boards? I just received my info book on DVC & have some questions regarding it so I thought I could find something here, but am not seeing it...???

Forget it...I found it! Have to go OUTSIDE of the Trip Planning forums!!
Thanks

Just spent 10 days at SSR in April....we are DVC members with OKW as our home...we recently bought some more points at SSR to expand our "options"...this was our first stay at SSR.
It was great.....the place is beautiful (as all Dis properties are !!) the pool was great for all...we had a room that was close to the main building so we were able to swim, hit the arcade easily. The food at the Artist Pallette food court was good....loved the breakfast pizza...Turf Club retaurant was not open, it was more of a gathering place (pool table, etc).
All CM's were very friendly and accomodating........not really sure what the $$ cost is for rooms, as we used our DVC points (had a 2 bedroom)...but if you are in need of a multi bedroom accomodation...you wont be dissapointed !!

It is one of the most beautiful resorts at WDW (my opinion).

If you get Congress House you are walking distance to DD. (between 3 and 5 minutes walk to the Market place in DD)

i'd love to know a few things!! Do you know how many hot tubs there are? any at the quiet pools?

also, is there a bridge to Downtown Disney, or do you want on the road? Thanks! :goodvibes

Maybe I can help answer your questions. Well actually I'm not sure about the hot tubs! I do know there is a spa :teeth:
The walkway to DtD is a pathway, not a bridge. For a few moments you are walking on a sidewalk. You end up at the market place entrance. You can also take the boat over and you get that behind the Turf Club(where the outside seating is) If you do a search on the DVC boards you can get a map of SSR.

We stayed there for 8 nights about a month ago. We had a studio in Congress Park. The decor in the room was nice.

We took both paths to/from DTD...the one from the west end of DTD seemed to take forever. The other one from the Marketplace to Congress Park didnt take much time at all.

We enjoyed the food court a few times, as we like upscale casual food, but have to say it would be nice to have burgers on the menu....sometimes you just want something fattening to eat.

We found the staff to be very accomodating and attentive. The check in process was quick and we received a room immediately.

Thanks for the great info! :goodvibes one more thing came to mind...where does the boat drop you at DD? DH and I hope to go to the comedy club a couple of the nights, and wonder if we should plan to walk or take the boat?

Don't worry - SSR is fantastic. I have stayed in a lot of Walt Disney World resorts - and SSR is my favourite. It is beautiful, sophisticated, relaxing and so close to Downtown Disney. Plus, you have the most wonderful on property spa right there.

I did not take the boat to Downtown Disney as the walk was not long. We stayed in the Springs section, and even from there it was a short walk. You get the boat from behind the Turf club which is in the Spring section anyway, so boat or walk would probably take a similar amount of time. The Turf Club is nice, so maybe you could have a drink there, before taking the boat to Downtown Disney.

I didn't visit the quiet pool, but the two hot tubs at the main pool were lovely. There is also a small pool bar at the main pool, and it is in a central location, so the walk from the pool to the spa, the counter service restaurant, shop, and community hall is short.

Thanks so much for the great info! :goodvibes DH and I will be going w/o the kids for our anniversary in November, and it sounds like a great resort for a quiet, relaxing trip! ANy suggestions on what building or view I should request?...aside from DD, what other view might be nice to request? also, is the Turf Club all indoors, or is there an outdoor patio to it?
