:wizard: :wizard: I guess this is an OK place to hang for a week but I am not that thrilled...and to be frank neither is my DD...who wanted to go to the pool and once we got there she immediatel realized that it wasnt SAB...

so with all that said I thought about my next Disney trip which is coming in February 09 for President's Week...my ressies were at OKW...and for what I have read on the boards OKW and SSR are very similiar in feeling and set up...so I called MS this morning to canel my OKW ressies...to see if i could get something more lively....

...well low and behold I was able to get ANIMAL KINGDOM...SAVANNAH VIEW....yeeeh

...my daughter is going to be excited...

any how just wanted to share my piece of joy...and wishing that anyone who had a Feb 09 WL just got their own wish granted...

Peace, Love and Disney Happiness:wizard: :wizard:

Sorry you're not enjoying SSR :sad2: We absolutely love it there. No pool is going to compare to SAB, but my kids (DD14 & DS11) both love the HRS pool & the Grandstand pool. Is the splash area at Grandstand open yet or still under refurb?

No DVC resort is "right" for everyone. Hope you enjoy your next trip at AKV :goodvibes

Isn't Feb '09 during the possible no animal Savannah period?

To accommodate this important process, animals are not scheduled to be on Sunset Savanna from January 15, 2009, through April 15, 2009. As a reminder, Members and Guests who reserve a savanna-view room during this time will be advised of this process, and confirmations for those bookings include a notation to that affect.

Approximately 30 days prior to arrival, the resort will determine, based on occupancy and booking date order, which Members will be assigned to a Sunset Savanna view room. Affected Members will be notified, and after their stay, will receive a Vacation Point credit reflecting the difference between a savanna view and standard view (no additional compensation will be given).

If this process is not acceptable to you, please consider alternate stay dates or resorts. Also remember that animals on the other savannas can be viewed from multiple public locations at the resort.

None of the pools compare to SAB. If that is what your dd expects, she will be disappointed in the pool at AK, too.

You are a sweetheart, and very nicely worded response. My response was worded a lot different!!! With all the tools available for proper research on everything Disney, sudden surprises should not happen!

The horses are spraying water, but they are always on, and the gates son't seem to be working. High rock springs is due for a refurb next month I believe, and they may do repairs at the same time, right now the waterfall has fresh cement which directs it away from the kiddie splash area and the donald duck is turned off with a "pool closed" sign in the area. It has been that way for 2 weeks.

I believe this will only the Sunset Savannah, not the Uzima or Arusha. The people who are assigned to the Sunset Savannah during this time period will be notifed and given a point credit.

We are not really "pool" people and don't have any kids so I'm kind of curious what makes SAB so special??

And...Good luck with that AKV reservation. If you feel that there is not much to do but hang out at SSR or OKW, you'll be really disappointed at AKV. Other than looking at animals and swimming in a very crowded, un-exciting pool there is little else. There isn't even anywhere to go for a walk. Everything is really far away. If you're looking for SAB then you need to only stay at the BCV, nothing else is even a close comparison. How do you not know this?

I am personally not a pool person...so when she said lets go to the pool I figured oh boy more pool here we go agin another day at the pool...I just dont like pools....but she noticed and made a few comments...so for the sake of not having to hear her complaints...i have made a switch...BTW I waitlisted for BCV...however, I am very realistic that I wont get it because...when I had the OKW ressies I had a WL for any studio outside of OKW and that never matched...I called in this morning and got my dates...so I have a reservations about this new WL process...since it should have matched w/o even calling and if there were people ahead of me then they should have gotten it...but 1 phone call and all is well

My kids love the pool at OKW, and so did our friend's younger children last year - the slide is a huge sand castle with Mickey's head as the opening, and is large and fast. Lots to do around the pool area as well - hot tub, kids play area, ping pong, tennis, shuffleboard and basketball are outside. And the drink refill station is nearby as well. Might want to check it out. We stayed at AKL and OKW this past summer, and the kids couldn't wait to get to OKW because there wasn't anything to 'do' outside at AKL, and the pool was 'lame' according to my DS - slide is like a kiddie slide and the pool is really nothing special. We did enjoy the animals from our savannah view, but really nothing like our patio at our 1 bdrm at OKW with it's gorgeous quiet water and golf view and feeding the ducks every day right out of our hands (we had first floor room). I'm sure there's lots of photos and descriptions on the vacation club website as well as here on the boards. Enjoy your vacation!

Well, Rob, pictures are worth a million words - that's for sure! Lovely pictures and I can see why people adore Beach Club. I don't own there, but hope I can spend a vacation or two there - it looks awesome.

I do love SSR and AKV, too.....so far I love them all. I actually love that they are each very different experiences.

I mean no disrespect, but if kids are always given exactly what they expect/want they are never going to learn to live with disappointment. Kids need to learn to see the positive in unexpected situations. They need to learn to appreciate the fact that they are on a WDW vacation and not gripe the the pool isn't good enough. OP I'm not singling you out here...I've heard lots of kids making similar complaints. IMO, however, it's when we give in to their whining that we do them the greatest disservice.

Okay...off my soapbox now...back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Great pool shots - I am so looking forward to our first trip there, but it's in December and I'm hoping for just "not freezing" weather. We always swim, even in January, but just crossing my fingers that the weather cooperates for more than few days this time!

no disrespect taken...however since this whole disney thing is on her behalf... i will attempt to work with her...but in addition to all of this I personally think this is okay place...just okay...and as far as the dd is concerned she knows that she was lucky to even get in a pool bc she knows i dont like pools...so she was fine...and probably didnt even care after awhile.:cool2:

Congrats... :yay: and what does SAB stand for?

Too bad your DD didn't care for the SSR pool. My kids would feel the same way about the pool but I know there is nothing that compares to SAB and probably never will be. My kids also know there are other things offered at SSR that are not offered at BCV. There are different things we like about each resort so every vacation is unique. That is what we love about our DVC.

Hope you enjoy your February trip.
