Ssr

We are staying there Mar 12-17th and will be able to report back once we return. I too was a bit concerned initially about all the questionable reviews. When reviewing those reviews, most pertained to either the walking involved or the limited dining experience.
The walking (and I'm thinking about 10 mins at most to either the main pool or DDT(ok maybe 15)) I look at as an opportunity to communicate with my family and enjoy my surroundings. I've also researched all the walking/jogging trails in the resort too so I may be a bit weird in this department.
The dining issues to us are non-existent as we have rented a 1 bedroom so we can provide our own breakfast and lunches and for dinners have planned a mix of dining in and visiting various eateries around the resort. I'm not one to eat at one establishment the entire stay. I like a little variety.
Go with a positive attitude and know that anything associated with Disney is usually good.

I have stayed at SSR, BCV, and VWL. For a winter trip I prefer VWL but for spring/summer I like SSR. Especially for an adults only type trip you'll really love the night life at DD. I would request a room in congress park because most of the kids will be at the feature pool across from the Springs.
I wasn't aware they were building a sitdown restaurant? Can anyone please expand on that info.....

We are considering a DVC at SSR. I have only seen the resort from a distance. I like this resort for pretty much the same things you point out i.e. its quite and close to DD. I can't recall how close, can you walk? Also, is there a golf course nearby?

Assuming you're healthy, you can walk from SSR to DTD. It's an easy 10 to 15 minute walk depending on which building you stay in. The Lake Buena Vista golf course is right between SSR and OKW. In fact some of the new SSR buildings are being built on a couple of the fairways.

To Stephanie: they're building the Turf Club (currently a place to relax, play pool and enjoy a beverage) into a table service restaurant. It's supposed to be ready this summer.

PinotFan,
Thanks! How did I miss that? Any themes known or specific type of food for the restaurant? I'm going in May, I guess the Turf Club will be torn up and not available for use then...
