SSR - Wow, it's Gorgeous

We just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our SSR!

Is it me, or is the SSR-bashing finally dying down? It certainly seems that there way more "SSR is beautiful!" type of posts than the bashing one. Can it be? SSR has finally been "accepted"? :goodvibes

Who knows. I will say this, SSR is a great resort and only keeps getting better.

Anyone bashing the resort really looks silly now. All of the DVC resorts are great so I didn't understand all of the doubters.

Long live DVC and SSR!!!!!

Our first trip to SSR is in Jan and we can't wait. The grounds look so relaxing and I love the fact that it is so close to DTD.

OKW Rules!!!

Haven't seen it yet, but it seems to me SSR is similar in attitude. So I suspect it's great, too.

I agree. The bashing seems to have stopped :thumbsup2 . Do you think the "bashers" are gathering their strength for the next new DVC resort? :rolleyes1

No. Actually I think it's due to better treatment for bipolar disorder these days.

Folks, we all know that SSR is the worst DVC for the following reasons:
1. It's too close to DTD. I don't want to walk!
2. It's way too quiet. After a long day in the parks I want more noise and tension!
3. Restaurant choices are limited (where are my hamburger and hot dogs after eating hamburger and hot dogs in the park).
4. Stupid thermostats!
5. Wide open areas...I want crowds!!!!!
:teeth:

DW and I just got back from a week at SSR on Sunday. and the place is looking amazing. There are now so many lakes/ponds that there are amazing views wherever you look.

We were also there for 2 weeks in April/May this year, and it seems to me that it has improved even since then.

What was very noticeable was that there is a real buzz to the Artist's Palette and the bar at the Turf Club now, compared to how quiet it was when we first visited when only Congress Park was open.

We had lunch at the Turf Club, which was excellent, definately a great addition to SSR.

We also visited the Spa for the first time, and both had a Swedish massage, which is discounted for DVC members. I definately recommend it after a day walking in the parks...so relaxing :cloud9:

For me the ability to walk to the Pro-Shop on a golf course, play a round of golf, and to be able to visit a fantastic spa straight after, all onsite, is something pretty special.

Um -- could someone please, please start a thread bashing SSR -- it helps to keep the riff-raff out. ;) Hence my signature pic and caption.

I love your caption I use that term many times during the day!! :rolleyes1 We will be home in 50 days!! We can't wait. We did the tour in Nov 05 and I have not stopped dreaming about our first trip home.

:thumbsup2
I agree!

I talk alot about SSR on the boards, but my DH and DS's are not interested so I spare them most of the time.

I do worry about them getting "bored" with DVC because I love it sooo much and want to go all the time.

Well the other night my DS9 asked when we would be going back to WDW. I asked them where they wanted to stay and he said BCV for a couple of days, but SSR felt like home! I couldnt believe he actually got it!!

That is just how I feel. We have many DVC's and I always thought SSR would be our "back-up" plan DVC, but after the first stay in 2004 and all the following stays, we immediately relax like at no other resort. Now it is our first choice and the only resort I would stay a continous 2 weeks at.

I think the thought that went into giving most villas nice views, the close parking, the nice pool loungers, the CP Quiet Pool, the Comm. Hall, the staff and AP, not to mention the spa and the beautiful landscaping everywhere has really made the hard choice of where to stay very easy.

I have not regretted purchasing DVC 1 minute since we joined. To have the choice of such wonderful places and the ability to form a preference is a true testament to what DVC stands for.

I am very excited to stay there this Jan! We own at SS but have only stayed at OKW and BWV so far. Both of which were awesome!! I am very excited though to try my 'home' resort this NYE!!

I'm bummed that I can't stay at my home resort (SSR) this weekend because it's booked solid! I guess it's all those darn BCV & BWV owners that took my room because they were all full at their resorts due to F&W. :lmao: Sorry, I can bash them because I own at BWV's as well, but SSR is my first home.

Oh well, I got my alternative favorite of OKW, so I'm still a happy camper! :cool1:

It's heartwarming to read the good reports. We've only got 49 days now to our 8 night ressie.

We were there in May and will be home again in .. 3 days (had to check the DVC countdown wallpaper). Great resort and looking forward to trying the Turf Club. :cool1:
