Hi all

We'll be at SSR this Wednesday and I want to know if the walkway is still closed?

Thanks

Boris

Walkway is still closed.

Earliest estimate of any re-opening I have heard is January but that's not firm.

Sign at the Marketplace at DTD today says the walkway is closed.

IMO the walkway will never re-open. The plans call for a new bridge to be built between SSR and The Village Marketplace.

I'm not real familiar with the lay of the land over there (I'm a BCV owner), but that seems like it would be a very long bridge. I'll have to look at an aerial view to check it out.

Disney wants to keep people away from the sidewalk on Buena Vista Drive so they are building the bridge across the narrow canal that goes to the flood control lock. It's the area where they used to park the fireworks barge.

It's #14 on this map.

Yes but you can still walk to the market place just walk down the road out through the gate and turn right its actually quicker than going round the back of congress park

So if you are staying at Congress Park you have to go over toward Paddock and walk IN the road that leads to the side gate and go around (where the DTD bus and other cars travel and then walk along Lake Buena Vista anyway and this is SAFE!! or else walk all the up to were the boats are that has a path that takes you to the West end on DTD.... geez this seems like an excellent plan.

I was just there last week. Based on the construction going on, I would not count on it reopening for months. Had to use the boat to get to the marketplace, over an hour counting 2 transfers. The whole place is a mess.

You could also take the bus.

As I posted above, I don't think that the old walkway will re-open, it is being replaced with a new bridge.

I wont be waiting for a boat ride that's for sure. I believe we requested the Paddock as my daughter likes the pool area there. I will be walking the Lake Buena Vista ave., or for that matter will take the long way around to the west side, and I can see the golf course. Either way, I love walking and have no problem taking a little extra time over to DTD. At night I will catch a bus back, no big deal

I normally don't mind walking either, however with the group I was with in August it wasn't a realistic option. After spending an hour to get to the Marketplace on the boats, we opted to come back by bus. But of course, the bus had to first stop at Blizzard Beach and then Typhoon Lagoon before finally heading back to Saratoga.

Sheesh! Until the parking situation has been sorted out so I can drive there, I doubt we will be spending much time at DTD.

Just got back. The SSR bus transportation was very slow....the boats were even slower!! At times during our stay the boat transportation was completely shut down to accommodate the Dragon Race practice... I personally thought that was very inconsiderate to SSR resort guests...Disney is trying to make everyone happy, and that's just not possible. other than the transportation issues, we loved the resort. We were lucky to have a car. used it more this trip than ever..

The bus service to and from SSR and DD/Disney Springs is very bad right now... Add to that the fact that most folks are using it and not walking to DTD/DS and it is very slow...

We stayed in Congress Park this week and simply got too tired of waiting for the long bus loop and simply walked back to the resort through the gated entry near the Paddock/Congress Park area.

OKW boats were completely shut down several parts of the day while the dragon boats were on the water. We wound up taking the bus.

There is a sidewalk the entire way with the exception of entering the SSR gates to the sidewalk around the Paddock area. Where there is no sidewalk you can easily walk on the grass. I was afraid the security guard would yell at us for walking through the gate, but he just asked for our ids and told us to be careful. I never really felt unsafe. There is barely any traffic on the part without a sidewalk anyways. Both times we walked we saw 0 cars.

I should add that I think it was actually a farther walk to walk to the boat dock, then walk ask the way from the west side to the market place. I will never take the boat again, unless of course I'm going to the west side.
