The Scoop: Our First Trip To Disney, Dh ,3dd's 15,11,2. We Are Staying In A Dvc Villa So We Can Have The Full Kitchen, Washer, Dryer And More Space. We Figure We Will Save Some $ Having The Kitchen.dece 16-23 Are Our Dates.we Have Booked At Ssr But Wondering If Okw May Be Better? Any Suggestions?

This will be our first trip to WDW as well, and are staying at a villa for the same reasons you are. We originally booked at the BCV, but then switched over to OKW. For us it came down to pure square footage: a 1 bedroom villa at OKW has 200 more sq. ft. than at the other villas, and a 2 bedroom at OKW is like 400 more sq. ft. We are going with two little ones (3 and 1) and to me those extra feet are like gold!!! It is an older resort, built in 1991 I think, so I'm sure the ammenities won't be as nice. Expecially considering that SSR is brand new. But we figure for our first trip out, while we still are figuring out what's what, we'll take an older resort with more room so we don't go completely bonkers! :-)

I'm guessing it doesn't matter where we stay - I'm sure we'll have an amazing time. Good luck and have fun!

The rooms are better at OKW, just because of the added space. SSR is nice with brand new rooms and a great pool (may not matter for December). SSR also as 2 restaurants vs. 1 for OKW. I prefer OKW, but just by a nose. It isn't as spread out as SSR (but it offers fewer amenities as well). Both are fair to midling when it comes to transportation. It is better to drive to every destination except DTD and MK, but you can get by on the bus. You'll probably like either one.

Well, you CAN drive to all the parks, but we find that usually takes longer to get to the turnstiles than taking the bus. The only exception to that is Animal Kingdom. Because the AK buses stop at Blizzard Beach first, it takes longer. Also, the AK bus bays at the park are nearly as far away as the parking lot, so no real advantage there either. The last time we were there though, the OKW bus stop at AK was on the near side to the entrance.

Suffice it to say, I'd much rather get off the bus and take a short walk into the turnstiles than have to wait for a tram once I found a place to park, and not only still have to walk from the tram stop, but REMEMBER where the heck I parked the car! Much easier to get myself to the bus stop! :teeth:

I don't know when the elevator buildings were built at OKW, but we had a wonderful stay in one of them in June, in a 1 bedroom. The accomodations were marvelous, and DH and I both thought that the resort has aged with grace.

Bobbi :)

I have been to both and simply because you have a two year old I would suggest Old Key West. I found that at Saratoga my two year old could reach everything! His vacation was spent turning the bath tub on constantly! Either way you will still have a great vacation!
