It's been a while since I've seen my laptop, so apologies for the late report.
DN and I arrived at 10 pm on 12/15 after much drama over arriving one day early to avoid the Nor'easter ice storm. God Bless Rosa for booking us in! Magic Express was wonderful, we picked up our own bags because of our late arrival, didn't really want to stay up until 2 am for them to arrive.
Arrived at SSR somewhere btw 9-10 pm, were cheerfully welcomed home and congratulated for beating the storm. We were placed in a dedicated 2 bedroom, which was what I had booked for the rest of the week and told we would not have to move out, only to come over in the AM to change keys. We both decided that the bumpy flight down required a healthy dose of chicken fingers from Artist's Palette before we retired to the room. We were in Congress Park, the first time I've ever stayed there. A first floor room, with a view of the "moat" between SSR and DTD. Room was very clean, only two tiny issues-no remote in the master bedroom and some odd medical contraption in the 2nd bedroom with tanks of oxygen that was probably there from the last guests. One call to the front desk got the medical equipment removed and the remote delivered.
Highlights of the week: Dinner in Canada on 12/20, and the Candlelight Processional always makes my Christmas bright.
Lunch at 50's Cafe on 12/18-Lydia is an amazing waitress-look for her!! Terrific rides on RnR and Tower of Terror. Mickey's Christmas Party on 12/18-sold out but not at all overcrowded, 3x on Splash, Pirates, HM, BTMRR, Snow White and Buzz-we closed the place! Steve at the Haunted Mansion is one of the BEST CM's I have ever seen in many trips to WDW. Completely into his role, became my "stalker" through the entire ride and followed us all the way to the border of Frontierland!!
Two chilly rides on EE on 12/17 thanks to the Redskins fans that sat behind us on our second ride-to hear those big guys yelling "oh, my LORD!! at the top of their lungs made the ride for us!! Met Jiminy Cricket for the first time ever at Rafikki's Planet Watch! Next trip we're going out there early to catch the vet action. Good ride on the safari as well, lots of animals visible.
Excellent dinner at Raglan Road on 12/16 as well.
Lowlights of the week: Sadly, we heard that a man passed away after riding EE on 12/18-prayers for his family.
Robot Buses!! UGH!!! This was my first trip exposed to the canned music and announcements and I have to say that I completely hated it. I miss the interaction with the drivers that we used to have and really wish Disney would make the canned stuff optional. I'm sure those fun drivers are still out there and would love to have the opportunity to have fun with us.
Lunch at Yak and Yeti-service was REALLY slow and the food was cold when it arrived. Hopefully, these are glitches that will be worked out over time, but for now, I wouldn't recommend it.
Now all I have to do is decide when we're going next year.....
