SSR - villas decorated beautifully, but wouldn't stay again

I guess we fall below the category of resort snobs. Basically we would take any WDW resort room over going to work.
We definitely have our favorites and those are the resorts where we book. But if it was a WDW vacation or not, we woul take any resort.

The "apartment" feel is what cinched his dislike (I am speaking euphemistically here) for SSR. Our really wonderful guide was giving us the "grand tour" of a GV, and dh was tugging at my shirt, saying "Let's go NOW". SSR creeped him out for some reason. I didn't have his "aversion"....it just didn't do that much for me (please don't get upset with me....it's a beautiful resort....it's just my personal opinion here).

But, the whole "apartment" feel really bugged him a lot.

But, that's what makes DVC so great....LOTS of choices!!!

I think SSR is one of the most exposed resorts from the roadside. Disney usually does a great job controlling the visual surroundings. First impressions make a lasting impact and the repetitive building layout is apparent. I think Disney could have done a better job creating a themed atmosphere.

I don't think that SSR will continue to be "exposed" in the long run. There are so many trees planted and I am sure more to come once the construction is done. It will just take a few years for everything to fill in.



On another topic - (resort snobs or not ), I would love to stay at GF one day and plan too when it is just DH and I. As far as YC, it is my fav and I will be first in line if they ever get villas over there. It is really great to have the choices for your stay and to go shop or eat at all the resorts you aren't staying at.
