Hi everyone,

I just booked a dedicated 2 bedroom at SSR. Can someone answer a few questions:

We have two very small children and the friends we are bringing also have two very small children.

1) Is the dedicated two bedroom better then the lock off?
2) In the layout picture it shows the room with the king has a whirlpool tub. Does it not have a shower and does that mean all 8 of us need to share one shower?

We stayed in a dedicated 2BR at SSR (Grandstand area) in October and it was great. The 2nd bedroom is very roomy with its own dedicated full bath. The master bath also has a separate shower room with 2nd sink & water closet. The doors to the bedrooms are roughly 30 feet apart, separated by the kitchen/living room and entrance area, so you get fairly good privacy and shouldn't disturb the others unless you are really loud.

A dedicated 2-bedroom only has one entry door, and will have 2 queen beds in the 2nd bedroom. A 2-bedroom lockoff is a one bedroom + a studio with a connecting door; so there are 2 entry doors to the hallway & a small kitchenette in the studio.

Both the master bath and the bath for the 2nd bedroom will have showers. In the master, the whirlpool tub is seperate from the shower. In the 2nd bath, it is a shower/tub combo.

2 bedroom lock-off: King in master bedroom, queen & sofa sleeper in 2nd bed

2 bedroom dedicated: King in master bedroom, 2 queens in 2nd bed.

Both configurations will have a sleeper sofa in the living room.

Some DVC'rs with small children (and maybe olders ones too ;) ) prefer the dedicated so they don't have worry about kids sneaking out the seperate entry door.

you will get 2 bathrooms

one the master will have a whirlpool tub and shower stall

the other is a combination - shower and tub together.

I've gotten the studio, 1bedroom and 2bedroom at SSR. When bringing guests (especially more than 2), I like the dedicated 2bedroom more. Since it lacks the extra kitchennette (which isn't needed), that second bedroom appears bigger and roomier for guests.

You'll get two queen beds in the second bedroom so your guests can sleep there. Or you can put all the kids in that room and have the adults sharing the Living Room & 1bedroom portion. It depends how you feel about using sofabeds.

The best part about that 2nd bedroom is that it is self-contained. You won't worry about kids sneaking out the back door or someone sneaking in. And the rooms are soundproof so bedtimes should be easier to manage.
