I am wondering if some people can clear up something for me. I read on one internet site that the Turf Club only serves drinks, but on another website is a menu. So what is the deal? Is it just a bar, or a bar/resturant..?

Reason I am asking, is I am going down sone, and want to go and get a drink with my father... but really do not want the hassle of going over to Downtown Disney.

Is this a place where pops and me... can have a few drinks.. and sit nicely?

It's both. If you walk down the left side of AP, it opens up and there's a lounge area on your left and a restaurant on the right.

FWIW, there were 11 of us that went one evening and every single one of us LOVED it. It's a little pricey, but very yummy. My FIL got a prime rib and it was advertised as 10 or 12 oz. Let me tell you, that was 10 or 12 ounces of meat. Honest to goodness, it looked like one of those TX sized steaks that they advertise if you can eat it all, you don't have to pay for it!!!

We will definitely add Turf Club to our list of "must go back" restaurants. :thumbsup2 As for the lounge area, it was mixed with people having drinks and some kids playing. Not an "adult" only type area, but people seemed to be enjoying themselves. I don't recall if there was a bar area to sit, as it was a little darker and lighting was dimmed when we got there. Someone else may be able to comment. Lastly, there was table seating outside that I think would be a great area to sit and grab some drinks.

It's both - here's the description (copied from the DVC Mebers' Website):

The Turf Club Bar and Grill
Race on in to a delicious restaurant that invokes the cozy charm of a classic jockey club. Enjoy gorgeous views of Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course as you indulge in succulent grilled top sirloin, herb roasted chicken, penne pasta or a tender Angus chuck cheeseburger. The adjacent lounge features cocktails, appetizers and parlor games.

Here are a couple of pics from our Easter trip to give you an idea.

The Turf Club used to be limited to drinks and, after complaints about the lack of a TS restaurant at SSR (mine included), it was converted in 2007 I think.

We're considering trying it out on our next trip so thanks for the comments.

The Turf Club is fabulous!!! It was so great when we were there last June...we ate dinner there twice!

The steaks are delish!!! I HIGHLY recommend dinner at the Turf Club. If you do a search on my name, I posted some great photos of our food there.

have fun!

The account you read is outdated. The outside bar area (where the pool table is) is still there, and the Turf Club now includes a full-service restaurant. And it's good.

The bar is very small and does not have stools. You sit in the chairs or couches in the lounge area (you can see it in the posted photo behind the young men at the pool table; there are a few more seating options than those you can see in the photo). I believe you can also order appetizers there.

I really like the pictures of the outdoor seating at this place. I think if I were to ever stay at SSR, that's an area that I'd be hanging out at for sure!

We ate in the turf club in September of 07. We decided when we got to WDW that we didn't want to eat at what ever place we had ADR's for. (i forgot which one) and was able to get a dinner reservation at Turf Club for the our group of 6 people.
DH really liked his steak. In fact he wants to eat there again when we are staying at SSR in december.

I just got back from a trade show at the Buena Vista Palace, which is across the road from SSR. Our contingent ate at DtD each night, eating at Portobello, Raglan Road and House of Blues. On the last day I went across the street to eat at Turf Club for the very first time (never got to it during my previous 2 SSR stays). It was the best meal I ate during the week. I highly recommend the blackberry lemonade.

It was tough staying a hotel so close to 'home'. Went for a jog each morning through the SSR grounds. Was nice to finish the week with a great meal at the Turf Club.

We love the food at Turf Club and try to get in there at least once a trip. Sevice can be iffy, but the food is good!

Eating out on the deck on a nice night is terrific. I had a great meal there in February. You can also catch a glimpse of the fireworks if you position yourself "just right" -- the awning blocks the view a bit. I think you can see both MK and Epcot fireworks.
