It's a bit over due but we had wonderful vacation at SSR despite TS Fays best attempts to wash away our fun. We stayed in the Grandstand in a dedicated 2br- room 9111 on the first floor as requested. The room wasn't ready until close to 4pm but we just changed into our suits and enjoyed the Grandstand pool until the room was ready for us. Great pool area. The main pool area at SSR was too crowded on the day we arrived so the Grandstand pool is a great option.
We loved the room. There were 6 of us- my DW and our two kids DS12, DD 9, and my mom and step dad in the 2nd bedroom.
Grandstand was a perfect location for us. And, overall, the bus service to the parks and DTD was excellent. No very long waits at SSR. Most wait times in the 10 minute range. Definitely can recommend the Turf Club-really enjoyed dinner there. I didn't like the Artist Palette- very disorganized, got my orders wrong twice and seemed understaffed and undertrained plus too much running around from person to person to order and then pay and then pick up- surely they can come up with something better!
With SSR being so close to DTD and Pleasure Island and seeing as how I'd never gone to PI once even though I've had a PAP, I convinced my DW that we should go. With the grandparents available and happy to watch the kids watch a DVD in the room, we ended up going to DTD on two different nights to check out the Comedy Warehouse, Raglan Road, Adventurers Club. CW was hilariously funny both nights that we were there and I thought that AC was a riot. Wish we went back for a second show there. Too bad they are both closing. We ended up walking back to SSR from DTD one night with the TS winds and rain coming down on our heads after just missing a bus but it didn't matter. We just laughed all the way back home that night.
