We will be at SSR soon :goodvibes and am wondering if anyone has made the trek from SSR, through DTD to the Hess convenience store across from DTD. We don't have a rental car this trip and I want to get some beer for our stay but don't want to pay WDW prices. Wondering if anyone else has done this and if Hess has reasonable (or more reasonable) prices on beer. I don't mind the walk...great opportunity to people watch!

Thanks!:santa:

Hess has very reasonable prices, though they pretty much only carry the common brands. It's definitely worth the effort to avoid the Disney "company store" markup. We buy our soft drinks and water there as well.

Depending on how much beer you are planning to buy, it is a bit of a walk.
From the nearest buildings at the Congress Park area it's a little less than a mile walk, and from the farthest buildings at the Carousel area it approx 1 1/2 miles.
That's a pretty long walk carrying a 30 pack and probably not worth it for a 6 pack.
You could take the bus to the Pl stop and walk from there, and then take the bus back again, or maybe even the boat, depending on your building.

JMHO

Thanks for the info!

Great idea! I think either the bus or boat makes a great deal of sense. Thanks!

I suggest you bring an empty luggage . You can put the beer in it and roll it !

It will make your trip to Hess easier !

I agree with the person who suggest to take the Downtown bus and get out at Pleasure Island. Then it will be just a short walk.

I walked over from Congress Park in October and it took 15 minutes. I then came back on the bus which was a little longer, but easier than carrying a case of beer all the way. The bus stop is right across the street.

I agree with the previois poster. Bring some luggage or a backpack to carry everything.

Prices are very reasonable. Same prices you would pay at an offsite location.:drinking1

If you are really into beer, it might be worth it to cab to the ABC Liquors, just outside DTD. The selection is much, much better and you can stock up on some good beers. Have the cab wait and total cost shouldn't be more than $25 from SSR. Definitely worth it, IMHO.

I do it everytime we stay at SSR or OKW without a car. They also have wine and the pizza not bad either!

Garden Grocer delivers beer you just need to e-mail them they will call you back to confirm your order and take your info (to ensure you are over 21).

We always get our groceries from them and we order our beer and wine there too! If you spend (I believe 100.00 on groceries) the delivery is free. Plus, if you run out of anything (even just a 1/2 gallon of milk) they will make additional deliveries for FREE!

You do not have to be home for the delivery they will drop it with bell services and they will deliver it when you gt back so you don't have to waste the day!

We took the boat from OKW to downtown disney and I let my wife shop while I walked over to the Hess station for beer. No problem at all and worth the time if you plan to drink a few beers around the resort. We were actually told by a friendly cast member at the resort about the Hess station. We had no idea it was so close.:thumbsup2
