SSR THV location request??

Hi Everyone!!

My family and I are using DVC Points and staying at a THV next month. I've never stayed in one and was curious as to what the most popular request(s) were?

Background…9 people total (including one 2 year old). We are staying for one night before moving over to Bay Lake Tower.

~Will have a rental car and extra car but my friend isn't bringing her daughter's car seat since they are flying and using DME. They enjoy using WDW transportation (trying to convince her to bring one though).

~Friend's family is staying in a studio at SSR the night before the THV and myself/ parents at Coronado Springs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

We were there in late 2013 and thought our location was ideal. I would request a unit on the south end, golf course side (nice view). The main reason being that you are close to the path to the Grandstand. This is key if you want to use Disney buses for transportation. We found it much easier to just take a short walk over to the Grandstand (1st stop on the SSR loop - so always got a seat) rather than wait for the THV bus to transfer us over to the Springs area (where buses could already be full). The other pluses about being on the south side is that you aren't far from the THV quiet pool (always had it to ourselves) and the boat dock to DTD.

I'd try and stay away from the water side. While it may be lovely to be looking at the water, the issue is that the boats blow their whistles which are pretty loud every time they dock and leave. This could get to be annoying especially if the little ones are trying to nap.

I've heard people complain about lack of parking spots at the THV's, but we never had an issue. Each THV is only supposed to have one vehicle. Additional vehicles can be parked over at the Grandstand area (again a short walk if you're on the south side).

The tree houses are laid out on a large figure-8 road. There is a bus stop in both the North loop and the South loop. It's not a huge area, so the walk from the North loop to the South loop isn't that big of a deal. However, keep in mind that there are no sidewalks. You won't want small kids walking anywhere on their own, because the buses drive along the same narrow street you have to walk on.

Each loop has both water-view and woods-view rooms. A few have a view of the golf course.

The South loop has the pool, the boat dock, and the path to the Grandstand. For this reason, we usually ask for a room on this side. Even if you have a car, there will be times when it will just be easier to walk or boat to the main resort.

We also prefer a water view -- the boat whistles never bothered us. We could see the water right from our bed on one trip, and it was a wonderful way to wake up every morning.

We stayed in 7030 in November. My one request was that it was close to the path to SSR. I was very pleased with the location because it was very close to the path and had a water view. I did hear the boats honk their horns. I am a light sleeper and travel with a white noise machine. The horns did not bother me at all. The villa was right next to a bus stop which we did not use at all because we had a van. The pool was just a few villas down the road. The villa was clean, quiet, and met our expectations.

7030 was the first THV we stayed in, too! Perfect location.
