Can anyone please tell me what’s up with my thermostat at SSR? It has a mind of its own, I can cut it off and it comes back on in the middle of the night. My kids are freezing there little bottoms off at night. I read a post one time about this?

Thanks, James

The thermostat may be part of a networked Building Automation System that is monitored remotely from the facilities office. It sounds like these units may be using a motion detector to improperly go into unoccupied mode at night when the occupants are sleeping and not moving. Try calling maintenance and see if they can force the unit into occupied mode 24/7 until they can fix it properly.
Otherwise, would you know the make and model? I might be able to find the service codes. I do that regularly.

You can enable bypass on most of the in room climate control units by pressing the power and temperature down arrows. BP will show up on the display if it works. This will force the system to run without the motion sensor activated and at what temperature you then set it at.

Otherwise, the unit could be defective and a maintenance call will be required.

One other thing, the bypass only stays enabled for about 48 hours, after that, you need to reset the bypass again.

Call Maintenance, they will check the unit out and show you how to bypass the settings. They want you to be comfortable.

does the unit continue to stay lit with two lines? I'm not getting a temperature reading now.

Call Maintenance.
I agree,, not to pick on OP but to many people like to come here for things that should be handled through the resort when they happen..
Amazes me how many times I read about someones "bad experience" when they never tried to resolve it. Then post on DIS about how poor DVC has gottenMaintenence probably could have resolved the temp problem in the time it took to write about it. :confused3

Here is something I saved in my PDA for our next trip.....not sure who originally posted it..........

Press the power button and the down arrow button simultaneously. The letters "bp" should appear in the display indicating you are in "bypass" mode. Then you can use the up/down buttons to set the temperature. You may have to do this every 24 hours or every few days.

The sensor by-pass for our kind of thermostat was simple--I just pressed the "off" button and both the temperature "up/down" buttons all at the same time. "BP' appears in the thermostat, and then it operates as most other themostats in most other hotels in the US

And yet another:

The thermostat has two buttons on the left (ON/OFF and AUTO/FAN) and two buttons on the right (UP and DOWN)

1) Press the ON/OFF and AUTO/FAN buttons together. The digital display will change to 'CA'.

2) Press the ON/OFF and DOWN button together. The digital display will change to 'OR" (or something similar).

You have just deactivated the motion sensor. This will last for three days at which point you will have to repeat the process.

TO CHANGE AC THERMOSTAT SETTINGS THE THERMOSTAT HAS TO BE PUT INTO "SERVICE MODE" IT IS SIMPLE TO DO BY PRESSING THE FOLLOWING KEYS ON THE FRONT OF THE THERMOSTAT.

EXECUTE THE FOLLOWING SEQUENCE:

1. PRESS (AND KEEP PRESSED) THE F/C KEY

2. PRESS (AND RELEASE) THE OFF/AUTO KEY

3. PRESS (AND RELEASE) THE DISPLAY KEY.

4. RELEASE THE F/C KEY.

UPON SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THIS SEQUENCE, THE LCD WILL DISPLAY PAR (PARAMETER) AND THE PARAMETER NUMBER.

1. PRESS THE UP ARROW KEY AND SCROLL UNTIL # 6 APPEARS. (NEW MODELS # 24)

2. PRESS THE OFF/AUTO KEY

3. THE CURRENT LOW TEMPERATURE IS DISPLAYED.

4. PRESS THE DOWN ARROW KEY AND SCROLL UNTIL THE DESIRED ROOM
TEMPERATURE APPEARS
5. PRESS THE F/C KEY
