We just booked our FIRST DVC trip!! I am so excited. It is Feb. 1 through Feb. 5. We booked it at SSR for a studio. I was just wondering, how are the rooms? I saw some posts about SSR, but they were all about the 1 or 2 bedrooms.
I think the studios are very nice. Most people talk about the 1 and 2-BRs because they're more like a mini-apartment versus a hotel room. But the studios are a little larger than your average hotel room.
Here are some nice pics of the studios you can check out! Just scroll down and you'll see pics of studios, or links to pics.
I love these SSR pics! I am planning on a split stay to use my newly acquired BLT points for 2010. So I'm thinking of getting a studio for a Sat & Sun before moving on to BLT. I just absolutely love the decor at SSR! I love the upscale look....
We stayed at a studion in December, at the Grandstand section as well. The room was really nice, and being on the 4th floor we could see some of the Epcot Illuminations.

I love it, too. I also love the views (golf course, DTD, and the pond). We stayed in the Springs last March, and this was the view from our balcony! It was beautiful! In fact, the picture doesn't do it justice.

Great pic! May I steal this for my computer? Springs....ok I think I will ask for this section.....how many floors are there? Was this from the top floor?
We've become big fans of SSR. We've booked studios on several of our past stays but got upgraded to 1 bedroom villas almost every stay but our last which we finally got a studio. We were quite happy with it even after being spoiled with a 1 bedroom. I don't think I can book another Disney trip in a regular resort without a kitchenette. I've gotten so used to having kitchen facilities don't think I can stay there without them anymore! We like eating at the WDW restaurants but also like being able to have a quick breakfast (a hot breakfast) in the room.
And, the room itself is much roomier than most of the resorts' regular sized rooms. But the kitchenette is such a plus! We've stayed in the GS and CP sections. Both are in very different locations. GS is very accessible to the main area as well as the boat dock. CP is right across from DTD so you can walk there. Our studio was in GS about 20 steps to the bus stop which was also very convenient. I wouldn't hesitate staying in a studio at any of the DVC resorts, as a matter a fact, it's pretty much our preference but we really like SSR!
Here are a few pics from our past trip:

We were on the ground floor with a nice view of the golf course, plus we could also see the buses if we looked toward the left and could have enough time to go out of room and catch it!
Also stayed in a studio in the GS section and really liked it. Had the same "reservations" about SSR before our stay, but we really liked it. About a 5 min walk to AP, 2 mins to the bus stop. We thought that since we stayed at BCV the previous trip that DS(5) would've been disappointed by the pools at SSR, but he loved them.
Transportation to/from the parks was fine, and as PPs have said having the kitchenette was great for having a few things in the room to munch on.

Also, we were in the Springs section, in the building closest to the preview center. We were in a 2-BR (room 3410) on the 3rd floor. Buildings are 4 floors. Our view was AMAZING. I think the building closer to the main pool would be an even better view. It would be closer to the bus stop and main pool, with the same view. I mean, your talking steps, but if you're requesting, why not?
We are here now, in the Grandstand section in a Studio and couldn't be happier. As others have said, having the kitchenette is great! Having the microwave and fridge is a godsend. We also brought along a one burner "stove" so we can actually do some simple cooking.
The room is spacious, and a bit larger than a regular hotel room.
