OK i have stayed at SSR about 5 times now and have always requested the Springs sections (grandstand wasn't open yet last time we were there) and have always been lucky to get that section. We have 3 little ones and like being close to the pool and food..and my 4 yo have very bad allergies and asthma and feel better about being close.....ANYWAY..lol
For those of you that have stayed in both sections (Springs and Grandstand) which section did you like better?? Is the GS as close to the carriage house?? My mind is drawing a bland right now..lol Thanks so much.....

I have stayed at both the Springs and Grandstand section.

The Springs: We were located in the building across the street from the main pool. Just a short walk to everything.:thumbsup2

The Grandstand: We were in THE last room in the farthest building out. I have a DD6 & DS3. It was a great effort to walk to the pool and the carriage house. We did one days worth of activities, we would have done more, but the walk gave us a second thought. We ate once at the Artiste Pallete and after taking 45 minutes to return to the room (waited first for a bus -- no dice after 25 minutes, we walked back to the room), I noticed that our order was not complete! UGH!! Our room was lovely, quiet and had a fantastic view of the golf course. The quiet pool was fantastic too! The splash area is bigger than the main pool and it has a great theme. The bus stop was really convenient too.

Bottom line, if I could be guaranteed that I was in the first building of Grandstand (closest to Carriage House), I'd take it! It is a really nice area.

Good Luck!

I forgot to mention -- our trip was in July. Add humidity to the equation and that is why it was soooo miserable being out in the back 40!

We've been in both the Springs and the Grandstand, but were lucky enough to be in close buildings in both.

This trip, when we stayed at the Grandstand, we actually had two different rooms. Our first room was in the closest building to the Carriage House. We had a nice view of the golf course and were right next to the Grandstand pool. When we got back to the room on the first night, though, we had a message on the phone that they had to move us - there was a leak in the tub above us and our room was supposed to have been taken out of the inventory so the ceiling could be repaired. They moved us into the building on the other side of the pool. In this room, we had a balcony that look down on the pool. This was the perfect building for being close to the pool, bus stop, and Carriage House.

We really liked the Grandstand pool, and used it almost exclusively. The one day we did go down to the main pool, it was really crowded, so we packed back up and went back to "our" pool.

Grandstand is the first bus stop (except the Downtown Disney route), so you're always the first on going to the parks and first off coming home. There were a few buses that we were on that were standing room only by the time we got to the Springs stop.

Getting to the DTD boat is about the same distance from Springs and Grandstand. When walking to it from the Grandstand, walk down to the right of the Carriage House to the golf clubhouse. It's right there. (We thought we might have to walk all the way around by the preview center, but the cart path from the Grandstand area goes right to it.)

If you get the refillable mugs, there's a refill station at the Grandstand pool, but it's only open during the hours that the bar is open (after luch to early evening).

Thanks so much!!
I did request the Grandstand area, so we'll see!!!!!

I haven't stayed in the Springs, but I have stayed in the Grandstand and I thought that the location was perfect. The Grandstand pool is almost as good as the main pool, with a bar and fountains for the little kids to play in. It's never crowded, and sometimes they show movies over there. If you request one of the buildings overlooking the pool, you are right next to the bus stop and it's a short walk up to the main building, main pool, etc.

we walked from the Grandsand to Cirque due Soleil over the wee bridge at the golf course, were there in no time
