Hey all,

I bought back in late November and am headed down in about a week (probably our last stay at non DVC resorts) and we wanted to head over to SSR to check it out. We're staying at POR so we'll probably take the boat to DTD and walk over. Anyway, my real question is that I seem to recall reading somewhere that they open up certain rooms for a couple hours a day so people can check them out. First of all, is this correct? Secondly, does anyone know what those hours are? and thirdly, what rooms are they and how do we go about finding them (just look for them or go to the sales center)? Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

They open the rooms from 3-5, I think, for members who just want to look around. It sounds like you are not a member yet. If that's the case, you will want to go to the sales center and arrange for a tour. You can also go to one of the DVC areas set up around WDW, and ask them to arrange for someone to pick you up and take you to the sales center for a tour and an explanation of how DVC works. The rooms are in the first building, but having a rep with you is the easiest way to find the building and the rooms.

We bought into SSR sight unseen and when we were down once and went to the guard booth, he directed us to the sales center (I think it has a different name - but same function lol). They INSISTED on sending someone with us (which made me feel kinda bad since we didnt make an appointment) and it was nice. She was able to answer so many different questions from the usual ones since we were already owners.

That said, I would stop into one of the DVC booths at any of the parks (or call SSR directly) and schedule a tour. They will come and pick you up and last time I heard, would give you 2 sets of fast passes for everyone that comes to "make up" the time you spend over there. Then they drop you back at the resort or a park, wherever you choose. I also believe that from 5-6 everyday (but don't hold me to this) is the sort of open house that you have mentioned.

Its beautiful. Hope you get to see it!

I don't believe we've officially closed yet, but we've paid and have our temporary membership cards...doesn't that mean we are members? Maybe not, just assumed we were. Anyway, I don't really want the whole "official" tour as we already have joined, but just want to walk around the grounds and maybe look in a room. Should we just go to the sales center and ask them what to do? Would MS know the exact hours the rooms are open? Thanks again.

If you have membership cards, you are "in." Did you purchase through Disney? If so, just contact your salesperson and ask them. Then let us know what you find out because we are owners at BCV and would like to see the SSR property/rooms but don't want to inconvenience a salesperson since we aren't planning on adding points.

In December, the model rooms were open to "walk ins" between 5 and 7pm every day :)

Yep, just called and it is from 5-7pm everyday. I was told to go to the preview center and they will give you a map to show which rooms are open. Thanks again for everyone's help.

The Grand Villa is in Building 1, Room 2607 in the Congress Park area of SSR. Go there from 5pm until 7pm and you can wander around to your heart's content. You don't need to show any DVC ID (at least, DW and I didn't in January) and they give out DVC SSR pins (sometimes a handful at a time -- have 7 here in my study). The 1BR and connecting studio are right next door. The DVC CM is in the GV and a Security CM is outside the doors of the 1BR and connecting studio.

Enjoy your visit home! Take your camera to get pics to show your friends and family what sort of luxury you'll be enjoying on your next holiday.

Yes, you are officially a member. We don't close until March but I booked a trip for September yesterday, & have already had to borrow 20 points*sigh*. Sniff sniff, I smell an add-on in the air. :flower:
