Hokey smokes, there are several SSR point packages for sale on the TS store site. One was for 625 points at $80 a point? Some poor family is taking a bath, because doesnt the TS store take 15% off the top?

WHy do you think there are resales already?

Could be lots of reasons.

*Impulse buy - couldn't really afford.
*Divorce
*Bankruptcy
*Unexpected medical bills
*Job loss
*Didn't enjoy vacations as much as anticipated - want to go elsewhere
*Death in the family
* etc.

What was SSR first selling at? What was it offered to current members at when it was first being sold. I vaguely remember a pretty good deal being offered a while back. The people selling may not have paid the currint going price of $85 to $95/pt. At least I hope not! I think TSS was also offering a special a week back or so 10%.

We paid $95.00 a point. Was the point price negotiable at the time?
I see someone said the current price is $85.00-$95.00, I wonder now if we could have tried to get the points for $85.00.

i dont know what it started at, but we bought in at $79($89 and $10 discount) .

This was in fall of 2003

That was the original price.

If an owner of one of these resales had rented or used a year or two's worth of points, it's conceivable they could break even after resale commission.

The incentive is to get $10 off per point to put toward your downpayment OR a "free" vacation totalling the same number of points you are buying. ie--we bought 220 points so we could get $2200 toward the down payment OR 220 points to use for a stay before our points are available. This is because the units we are "buying" into are not built yet.

Could depend on when Sherri purchased. Back in the summer of '04, when DVC was still selling Phase 1 points, the price was $95 per point with buyers receiving 2004 points. In order to get the $10 per point credit, you had to use Magical Beginnings to sell back the '04 points to DVC. That may not have been an attractive offer to many new owners.

I'm sure glad I bought in '03 when it was still $79.00 pp after the discount. At the time I thought that was high! :earseek: If I only knew I would have initially bought more points. :sad2:

We purchased in April of '04 and we got it for $79 a point ($5 discount).

So, here we are... less than a year later doing an add-on at $85 ppt. AGH!! Why didn't we just buy more a year ago???

It seems like I paid too much if I paid $95.00 a point over the summer and add on points now seem to be cheaper.

I just read that there were vacation incentives or downpayment incentives. We paid upfront with one check, we didn't finance of put down a downpayment because it was better to use our equity line and pay it out right. Which leaves me wondering about the vacation incentive that was never offered.

You probably paid $95 and got 2004 points.

We are purchasing an add-on to Phase II, so our points won't come until our UY 2005.

We also paid the $95 price less a $5 per point incentive off our August add-on at SSR (net $90), but we were allowed to buy Phase 1 points, and got all of our 2004 points, but only paid pro-rated maintenence fees (from our close in October, so less than 3 months worth). Plus with our Feb UY, we got 05s points PDQ too. The two APs clinched it for us. I'd say it was a darn good deal for us all in all.
