We just returned from a quick 5 day trip to WDW. Booked fairly last minute, so we ended up at SSR, but that was ok with us since we had stayed there twice before (when it first opened and once when it was about 75% finished) and had liked that "neighborhood" feeling to the resort. But this was our first visit to the "finished product".
And it was great! There's not another WDW DVC resort with such fantastic landscaping and lush green views. Okay, OKW comes in a close second, but ultimately loses out based on the walkability factor. It's much easier strolling around SSR on the various paths, many of them away from traffic and exhaust fumes. Bunnies, fish, turtles, and exotic birds (at least exotic here in NH) were in plentiful supply. We were in the Paddock this time, a mere 5-7 minute stroll from the main pool or the Carriage House. Also had a smaller pool right outside of our building. We thought this was an ideal location, away from the hustle & bustle of the Carriage House, but still just a short walk away from the amenities.
We had a car, so only used the MK bus on one day, but both coming & going we were on the bus within 10 minutes of arriving at the bus stop. Certainly not a scientific determination of bus efficiency, so all I can say is it worked out well for us.
All in all, we were extremely impressed with how SSR turned out. It's a beautiful resort with, as I said, the best landscaping hands down of any WDW DVC resort. We're not owners at SSR - VWL & AKV is where we spend most of our time - but we are indeed happy visitors.
