Very interesting.....

I'm still a little fuzzy on the first year's points.

Please correct me if im wrong.

If I purchase 160 pts for SSR in 2003, I will receive 2003 points? Can these be banked to 2004?

I will pay $79 ppt.

I won't pay dues until May 2004?

I will receive Developer Points to use for how long? Can these be banked?

Thanks so much for a very informative thread!

If you buy SSR pts you either receive a $10 credit off the $89 price OR developer's pts-not both.

What use year were you offered for SSR?

You pay 10% down now and payments start in May, I think.

People who have a December use year will get their first set of pts this December and their last set in Dec. 2053.

You will not be able to use your SSR pts until the resort opens.

You will be able to make reservations earlier than people who don't own there. I think on Dec. 1.

Doc, Thanks for all the great info! Wonderful job! Now I just have to talk my husband into buying;)

As floridafam stated, the only 2003 points available will be if you have a December Use Year. Yes, you could bank them into 2004. Closing on the purchase won't happen until spring, 2004, but no SSR points may be used for a reservation prior to May 1, 2004.

The "Developer Points" are an option instead of the $79 purchase price ($10 discount). You can get a combination if purchasing enough points- but 160 won't allow that. You'd have to choose either the $79 per point price or the Developer Points. They MUST be used by April 30, 2004 and cannot be banked- since you don't actually own them and they are not part of your contract.

I hope this helps.

Can someone point me in the direction of the chart mentioned here? Searching is not working. THANKS!

Just wanted to bump this for some friends of mine to read! Thanks for the great info! :p

Just to be sure I am clear, based on Floridafam's post, over the 50 year life of SSR, folks that buy now and have a December use year actually get 51 years of points, while all others get 50 years of points? (2003-2053 as opposed to 2004-2053)

That seems to be a pretty big advantage for those folks - even if I buy 100 points (the minimum for the $10 discount), given the current $10 rental rate, I could get $1,000 back within a year, and still have 50 years of my own vacationing at SSR. Do the December folks pay extra dues on those 2003 points?

Am I missing something?

Well,

Now even I'm confused.

According to my calculations, people with a Dec. use year will get their last set of pts in Dec. 2052.

That would give them a set of points 50 times.

Anybody know for sure:confused:

We have the same confusion - if it expires on Jan 31, 2054, I just assumed that the last year folks got points would be 2053, ending in December.

Based on your assumption, the last folks to get points "available" for lack of a better term would be the November 2053 people. That would seem more equitable.

I asked my guide yesterday, but she only responded with "That is a great question. I have no idea. No one has ever asked that."

Sorry to confuse!

Doc- I'm concerned about the size of the resort.

Having stayed at DI when it existed, it was a large, vastly layed out property that was in some places Very Difficult to walk around.

We were in the bungalos and walked to Seasons and found walking there was not planned out very well. We were on grass, had to walk up and down some banks, and scurried across golf cart paths. Now I'm not saying the whole resort was like this. It just wasn't planned out very well throughout. Its no wonder to me why Seasons closed down.

When you were on your "reconnaisance mission" did you notice if they addressed this problem?

I've never been in OKW, but from what people say its also very large and I don't hear people saying its hard to walk around there.

Thanks

DI was based on the Chautauqua concept and was very true to that way of thinking/architectural style.

SSR will have a different feel to it. The SSR pool will sit where the DI bandshell was situated (on the hillside in front of the entrance to Seasons). The pool appears to create a new focal point for that area of the new resort.

Since that area is under heavy construction at this time, it's a bit difficult to see what the final access pattern will be, but I'm certain it will have a different feel from DI (it already does).

Here is a photo of the pool construction taken 3 weeks ago- the Spa is at the far left (out of the picture), the former Seasons is in the upper middle and the resort check-in area is in the upper right (red siding). The auditiorium is to the right and the Cinema is to the left (both out of the photo).

Thanks Doc- I agree that the architechtural style will definitly be much better than the DI. I didn't mind the original blds, but that Chautauqua style was just so cold looking.

Its hard to visualize the finished product this early. I can't wait to see it though. Are they letting people in the resort area at this time, or are you getting in through OKW? We'll be there in Oct. and I'd love to check it out.

You mentioned developer points. We purchased at SSR the first day they were available, but were not offered or told about any developer points. Do we have to specifically ask for these or are they not always offered?
