SSR Report...LONG!

Does this mean that the overall size of the resort has not been determined? Are they only selling points for the 12 buildings and than taking a wait and see approach? Also, do you know why there is a 4 month break in building?

Thanks
Sandy

I did ask about that. Ken's reply was that the 12 buildings are what the current plan calls for. He also hinted that, should the resort sell better than anticipated, more buildings could be added, but had no hard evidence or comment about that. My mention about the Fairway Villas would be included in that aspect, IMO. I don't think the Fairway Villas or Treehouses could be included in SSR without major changes and it might be just as practical to remove/rebuild as renovate to that extent- also IMHO.

The 5 month break in opening buildings is simply because they haven't yet started construction on those buildings. They are presently concentrating on completion of the first phase of four buildings. The ground is all prepared and I'm sure construction will begin soon.

Do you think the New Years celebration (fireworks) at midnight every nite at PI will make some people shy away form owning there if they have young children?

While I'm sure some sound from PI will be heard each night at midnight, the sound generated and the duration shouldn't much of a problem for any but the lightest sleepers. I wouldn't be a bit concerned with the sounds disturbing sleep in a way that will adversely affect anyones vacation.

Even at OKW, the buildings at South Point are about as close to PI as those 4 buildings at SSR and I'm not aware of anyone complaining about sleep deprivation as a result.

Anyone staying in any but these first four buildings shouldn't have a problem at all.

btw, was there any mention of if each building will have an elevator?

Yes, all SSR buildings will have elevators. (At this point, they are required to be accessible anyway.)

Doc,

Sorry, but I have a series of related questions about developer points.

Where do developer points come from? Do they pay maintenance fees on those points? Do they get to book at the 7 month window?

Do you have any thoughts on how that might affect making reservations between now and 4/30/04?

Thanks for the info. I was just talking with a friend of ours last night who is thinking of buying in, so he will like this information.

SSR will make another nice option for vacation and I'm sure we'll get there.

"Developer Points" are owned by the developer (DVD) and are NOT points from SSR. They are, most likely, points recaptured from Magical Beginnings over the past months. No fees need to paid by the SSR buyer for these points (maintenance fees have already been paid by the member who used MB). These points can be staggered into the system as they are used between now and the end of next April. As far as I know, they can be used to reserve thru April 30 right now (and, since they are MB points from all DVC resorts, this shouldn't upset any reservation priority windows).

Thanks for the information. We had been thinking about adding on at SSR all week.....now it's a done deal. Time to start planning another trip!

Thanks again, Doc. I hope you are finding time for R&R on this holiday trip :)

Thanks for the great report Doc!

Did Ken mention anything on where owners of SSR will be able to stay from 2042-2054?

:D

Ken didn't make any comment, nor did I specifically ask.

While no decision (or announcement) has been made about the status of the current DVC resorts, SSR owners will be able to stay at SSR and all DVC resorts available after 2042, plus they will still have access to any other programs still in existence at that time (like Disney Collection, Concierge Collection, etc.)

Stay Tuned!! ;)

Thanks for all the SSR info. Although we will not be adding on just not (college coming up) we will plan a stay within the next year.

Hey doc, remember we always appreciate your opinions but get some R & R and all is having a magical time. :)

SSR owners will only be able to stay at SSR after 2042 and, any resorts that may (or may not) be built after SSR.

In addition, a combination of DP and $10 incentive can also be accomplished if desired.

How can this be accomplished? If you buy the points now, you can save $10, get points that need to be used before May 1 2004? What about 1st years points? Either/Or?

Thanks for all the great info and hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!

You can combine the two programs. Apply the discount for 150 points and the Developer Points on the next 150 of your 300 point purchase! ;)

Just saw a site plan map, and to add a few things to Doc's description:
In addition to the High Rock Spring pool by the Spa and check-in area, there will be 2 quiet pools. One will be in the center of the four buildings currently under construction. The other will be among the other 8 buildings.
The boat dock will be at the old DI boat dock location. The fireworks viewing pavilion will be lakefront in the middle of the 4 buildings under construction, directly in front of the quiet pool.

Couple of questions:

1) After the first units are open, do you think the contruction on the other units will have a negative affect on those who are staying there ? Will the noise and construction equipment be a problem ?

2) Several weeks ago there wa a kinda gentlemans bet on the opening price of the resort. I went with $84.00, others went with $89.00 and up. Listed price is $89.00, but actual elling price appears to be $79.00. Do we have any declared winners :-)

1) All of the ground prep has already been completed where the next phase will be built, so I don't expect any real disruption from the construction. (There was minimal effect when the old sales office at OKW was removed and the last 3 buildings constructed - and those are within feet of occupied buildings. The SSR construction will be much farther away.)

2) I'll leave the mediation of that bet to someone else! ;) The $79 rate (with discount) is only for those buying 100 or more points, so I'm not sure how that should figure into the actual bet. I will read thru the POS to see if there are any rules that can be applied to determine the real winner! :smooth:

What were the stakes, anyway??? :smooth:
