Staying at SSR from 19th December for 8 nights and was hoping you could give some advice on which room to request. Not worried about being close to anything, just want the quietest room possible. Have heard that you can hear noise from DTD in som locations so hoping to avoid those.
Thanks

I really enjoyd our stay in the Paddocks. We had a lovely quiet pool nearby and were only about a 5-7 minute walk to the main pool and restaurants. I loved sitting on our balcony in the mornings just enjoying the peace and quiet. There is also the Carousel section which is also a bit further out but I haven't stayed in that area.

Congress Park is the one closest to DTD and the Springs is close to the main pool. I haven't heard a lot of reports regarding noise in either of those areas but being that they are both a bit closer to the action, that might make a difference. I have stayed in the Springs and had no issues, although it didn't feel as tranquil as our unit in the Paddock.

You might also post this on the DVC Planning Board since SSR is a DVC resort there are many people on those boards with SSR experience.

Its a lovely resort, I think you'll love it!

I just left SSR this morning (sniff, sniff)..we were in Congress Park first floor....very, very quiet!! Our patio was about 20 yards from the little playground and a few yards further was the quiet pool....no problems with noise whatsoever either in the room or sitting on the patio. The view of DtD was beautiful! It was a quicker walk to the main pool area than I though..maybe 5 or 6 minutes.

We were in the Paddock in room 65XX (can't remember exactly). It was really quiet although the resort itself was very busy. We were there May 16th-21st. It was extremely quiet as there were only ever 3-4 cars in our parking lot until Sun nite (20th). It appeared as though they had filled all the other areas and just put overflow studio people there. All the guests in our building were all in the same room, but on different floors. It was hilarious to see just those rooms stacked on top of each other lit up at night. We kept hoping someone would join us and they finally did on Sun night. Guess everyone was waiting until the points went down. If you are looking for quiet, the Paddock might be a good bet if that is the last area they rent out. Can't know if that is generally true or a one time thing, obviously.

At first we thought we didn't think we would like our location as it seemed far from everything. We did grow to like it and I think I would request it next time. Very serene. Like the other poster said, 5 min walk to the theme pool, main building and about the same for the bus. Have fun!

I asked for a top floor room because I was with DS, autistic, and he is a light sleeper.

We just returned 7/14/07 from SSR and stayed in the top floor of the Grandstand. Not only was it quiet, but it is the newest section (only about 3 months old). It was so clean, my DH is convinced we were the first people to stay there. It is also the first stop for the bus, so you never worry about crowding.

We stayed in Congress Park recently and didn't have any problems with noise. We couldn't even hear the family next door.

The Springs was very quiet yet a short walk to bus and main pool, lobby and food services.

We had a first floor room and had no noise from neighbors.
