SSR Question re: Distances between Buildings

Hello all you Saratoga Springs experts!

My husband and I are planning a trip to WDW in early December, and are hoping to rent points at SSR. Here is my question: if we stay in the Congress Park buildings, how long will it take us to walk to the pool and the restaurant? We are in our early thirties and are both fit.

My DW and I toured SSR in Jan 2005. We thought it was funny to ride in a golf cart from the sales office to the demo units in CP. At your age and fittness level, SSR should be a great resort. I think you will be surprised by the relatively short distances around the resort. Compared to EPCOT, it is "a walk in the park".

We just got back. It took our family of five (three energetic kids and two early 40's but fit )about 5 or 10 minutes to walk from CP to the Springs area. Our building was before the pool/Artists Palette, so probably give yourself 10 minutes or so. We're pretty fast walkers, though. We're probably annoying to other people in the parks. We look like commandos, but that's how we always walk. We also walked to both sides of DD from our room. It's really not all that far. We did enjoy staying in the Springs because it was so close to everything.

How does it compare to say POR for being spread out?

If you are talking about both the original POR and Riverside together, you are getting a good idea of what SSR is like. You will get your exercise, but it's not any worse than walking from one end of POR to the other. I'm 50, and did SSR 6 weeks after two abdominal surgeries, and I'm not even close to being fit. Slowly, though.

Let me speak on terms the way I prefer it... Do you mean Dixie Landings (Alligator Bayou and the Mansions) and Port Orleans French Quarter together?

Just wanted to add - Don't let the map of SSR scare you. We we in The Paddocks last weekend. And the resort map showed this huge bridge we would have to cross to get to Artists Pallette. I was initially bummed. But once we got to our room, and actually saw the bridge, I had to laugh. It was at most a 7 min walk.

I appreciate your responses. It sounds like it shouldn't be a problem to be in Congress Park. Now I just have to rent the points so that we can stay there...

Honestly SSR isn't as spread out as it looks on the map. But, will you be spending more time at downtown disney as you will at the main pool, artist pallete etc? If you won't, jump to all ssr' amenities - and downtown disney would just be a 10 minute walk.

The Springs buildings are closest to the High Rock Spring theme pool, but the Paddock and Congress Park both have quiet pools (no slide). The Springs consists of the 3 buildings in the middle of the resort.

All three Springs buildings face a lake. There are a few villas that face the High Rock Spring pool and Horsing Around rentals. Those probably do not have a water view, so you may want to include 'water view' in your request. But remember, your requests are not guarantees.
