For those of you who've sneaked a peak...

How hard is it going to be to walk over to Downtown Disney from SSR?

According to the maps on the DVC site, there is a walkway, but does it take a long way around or is it more direct?

On the map, the path looks to go over to Marketplace. Is there a walkway to Westside as well or just boats?

during my morning running, I go out the back of OKW and along the canal (what they call a running path) and it goes to where the golf clubhouse is - which is attached to the road going through SSR. last year we were still able to run through, but in early March, I could only go about 300 feet until a fence blocked it off. but, it was right in the construction area and there was a nice closeup view of what was going on.

I don't know what the situation is back there now, but, I'm sure you can still walk from OKW along the canal to the golf clubhouse to get as close as possible.

There is a SSR boat launch nearby or the walkway at the far end of the Downtown Disney Marketplace side. Any other questions feel free to ask.:sunny:

There should ba path to DD from SSR. The problem with a path like that is that anyone can use it, maybe they will come up with a way to stop non-DVC members from entering the area especially at night. There is a path to West Side from OKW that you should also be able to get to by heading toward the golf course club house, and crossing the canal. I am not sure which way is the shortest but the path over the canal would be an easier walk without the crowds you have at DD to get to the West Side.

We were at DD yesterday. The side that is completed is farthest away from DD with a construction wall going all the way to the waters edge. All of the continuing construction (and there's a lot of it) is between the completed section and DD so I don't think there would be a path through the construction zone to get to DD currently. We had thought about walking over there from DD but after seeing how far we would have to go, we decided to drive. Of course they wouldn't let us in to take a look around because all of the tours were originating at La Nouba and then taking a shuttle over to the resort. We had to get to the airport so we skipped it.
