I answered mostly SSR - and I'll admit, I probably would have gone with the "I want to try them all" option if I hadn't just returned from our first trip home.

We were almost downright shocked at how much we enjoyed SSR - you will hear no complaints from me about staying here year after year. Granted, I think we will continue to try out different resorts here and there depending on our needs for that particular type of trip, time of year, etc. - just as we have done with all of the WDW resorts before buying into DVC, and will likely continue to do with those resorts as well. We like a little variety here and there, but will also always come back to those resorts that we love the best - SSR is now on that list, for sure.

Admittedly, I haven't stayed on the DVC-side of any other properties (although I have stayed at BWI and WL). We've toured both VWL and OKW, and the resort's feel and decor don't do anything for us. We loved the BWI, but I absolutely cringe at the bedding in the BWV studios!! (I realize it's silly, and maybe we'll try it out in a couple of years if they redo the bedding, or we stay in a 1BR! ) I guess that only leaves BCV for the onsite options, and I would like to try out SAB during a warmer weather trip at some point.

The beauty of DVC - I have 48 more years to keep things interesting! :Pinkbounc

I voted to try all of the on-site resorts, and then SSR is fine. Actually, SSR is fine anytime, but I'd like to try all 5 at one point or another. Come on people, how can you go wrong staying at any of these 5 resorts. This is Disney World! :bounce: :thumbsup2

I voted mostly SSR also...lots of advantages for myself and my boyfriend...no small kids to tend to and for me, the lure of Wolfgang's and Earl of Sandwich just a jog away - wonderful! and a top-notch spa to boot! :thumbsup2 ....looking forward to watching the "growing pains" as SSR blossums into all it will be...

the only other location I have a true yearning to stay at is WLV....we actually stayed at the hotel this past February and maybe it's the scouter in me - but I just fell in love with the whole theming and flavor of WL...and yes, I do see an "add-on" coming in the near future!! more for me than my family ....I'm thinking solo trip every once in awhile sounds quite refreshing!

hey,Cobbler, great thread!! quite refreshing :teeth:

I voted BCV b/c that's the only resort we've stayed at so far (2 trips, and going again in September). DH and I don't have children yet, so we spend most of our time at Epcot and MGM, which makes BCV a perfect location for us. I'd like to try BWV too, but am concerned that it might be a little to noisy over there.

Once we have children, we will probably start staying at SSR and/or OKW. We also travel at off peak times, so we have always been able to get our first choice a few months out. I would never be able to book a trip with more than 7 months notice anyway, which is why the whole "buy where you want to stay" didn't factor in to my decision on which resort to purchase.

I will mainly stay at SSR. I won't stay at BWV or BCV because for me they are too noisy. My dd9, husband, and I have gone to Disney every year for the past 9 years and we don't feel the need to do the commando park visit anymore. More often, we like to relax at the resort and rent a couple of bikes. I love the furniture and decor, it is so beautiful! If I do stay at another DVC it will be OKW or VWL.

Most owners advise to buy where you want to stay. I did and couldn't be happier! :sunny:

I voted that I would mostly stay at SSR but have to qualify it with using our SSR points. We own OKW (340 points), VB (50 points), BCV (100 points) when we went to Member Homecoming we purchased SSR 150 Points. We had originally thought we'd sell the BCV and VB but neither of us are that motivated to.
We purchased the 150 figuring on bank and borrow for GV & multiple units when we need them -- the second floor hallway access is a plus when you need accesssability for guest and you don't want to surrender the master bedroom. We have stayed at all of the onsite DVC resorts; OKW is my favorite SSR is my husbands. Depending on what kind of trip they both have different plusses the teens like the freedom and access to DTD, the pool , Disney Quest etc. We--adults- like parking close to the accomodation, proximity to DTD and the spa services. My husband likes the more woodsy feel of the decor; I definitely prefer it to VWL but OKW is a more relaxing atmosphere for me-- ohh those pastels make me feel like I'm on vacation.
We also like the distance from the parks -- for a quick trip BWV and BCV are nice time savers but not for a laid back relaxing vacation we like the spread out open feel of OKW and SSR.

We think SSR is great, AND we want to try other resorts...probably. Because we are only planning to go every two years, we plan to split our stays whenever possible. So this last trip was SSR/BCV and next time, I'm suddenly feeling pulled toward VWL, but that could certainly change in a year. Plus, my oldest two (DS7 and DD5) are starting to have opinions about these things. :)

I swear on, well, whatever, that we would be PERFECTLY happy to stay at SSR if there was no availability anywhere else. For heaven's sake, when did we all get so darn spoiled?

Prior to adding on at SSR, I had read many times debates about which resort was best and why. I never understood the passion people had for their home resort -- until we added on at SSR. It just felt "right" to us. Now, I won't say we will never stay outside anyplace except SSR. I stayed with my DS11 at BCV last October. Because it was his choice to stay there for a birthday trip. We stayed at VWL and loved it too. The one I personally don't care for is BWV....just didn't appeal to me at all. :duck: In fact, after we did the initial add on at SSR, we sold points at BWV in order to buy more points at SSR. It just has the homey feel to it and we like it.

Lucky for us, we'll be there in another 9 days. :cool1:

Anywho, I voted to try them all at least once and then SSR from there on out is totally fine with me :)

Oh, and why, because I do have a checklist. I want to try EVERY Disney owned resort on property. I have issues. So I have to try them all at least once then I will be back to SSR because I really do like it there. Hubby thinks I am nuts and just wants to stay at SSR  What a weird-o :teeth:
:upsidedow

Exactly how we are approaching our SSR ownership! Our "lifetime" goal is to stay at each and every Disney resort. I expect that we won't be using points for all of our stays, but we do want to use points to stay at each DVC resort at least once, mostly just to say that we did. We haven't stayed at SSR yet, but did tour the property, and I expect we will be thrilled with it!

I also selected try everything once, and than SSR from there...

After admiring SSR during construction, I fell in love with SSR when I took the tour last year. For me it made better sense to buy into SSR for the additional years and the financial break on purchasing there rather then one of the sold out resorts.

But having never stayed at OKW before, I did choose that for my first DVC stay last fall. In Sept we're staying at VWL so that we can be closer to MK.... but fall 2007 we're planing a family reunion and will be booking at SSR at the 11-month window. The lure of less points might have me checking availability at OKW..... plus we need a GV, so for me that means SSR or OKW in October..... we're one of the few not totally into FWF.

I voted for 'mostly SSR' because I own points at all the DVC resorts, and use them all pretty much exclusively at their home resorts.

We've only been DVC owners for a little under a year, with only 1 trip home so far. We haven't experienced all there is to experience at SSR so we have no interest in exploring beyound our home yet. Perhaps after 5 or 6 visits we'll be ready to experience the other resorts, but not yet. I don't feel I'm missing anything by not going as I have been happy goin' home. :woohoo: :wizard:

We own and have stayed at SSR twice since we joined DVC. We are planning our 3rd trip (home) for April 2007 - most likely staying at SSR again!
We like to stay in Congress Park as we have had great views of DD Marketplace/Pleasure Island from our balcony and we can easily walk to DD from our building! Since we have a teenager and DH who love Disney Quest we frequently spend our nights in Pleasure Island and West Side.
The quiet pool is close by our building in Congress Park and we have never seen more than 5-7 people at a time in the pool or hot tub! I would love to stay at BCV some day, but right now since we frequent DD so much, SSR is a good choice for us!

I voted to try all and that SSR would be fine. If I could have somehow bought at every resort I would have because I like them but I bought with the idea that I liked SSR and would gladly stay there. Because we are fairly new-we are trying to stay at the different resorts because we never have and I know I can get SSR in the future :)

i put try all and then SSR will be fine. i just want to try them out to say i have and since i can, lol! i think SSR is gorgeous, esp after seeing the barryb website someone posted on here. WOW!! i was speechless :bitelip: over the beauty of it and know i will love love love it when i finally get there. i don't have children and prob won't be going with any, so i think i will like the peacefullness there. the parks are crowded enough without having to rub elbows in the pools with people at the more crowded places. :rolleyes1 to each his own - i think there's something for everyone down there. which is prob why we all put our hard-earned money into this! :thumbsup2

I voted to trying all the other resorts at least once, and then SSR will be fine. I'd like to "experience" all the DVC resorts, but I do really like SSR.

We purchased SSR sight unseen, and were very pleased when we were there in December with the resort. I must say though, that I'm really glad that they are adding a resturant and that they have worked out the bus kinks I experienced while I was there.

We will stay mostly at SSR but we are going to VB in May.Can't see us going to the other resorts at all.We were looking into buying a condo but it seemed like to much of a hassle. When we walked around CP just before it opened we knew this would be perfect.Went right back over to BW and signed the papers.5 trips later and 2 more planned for this year we just think its the best. :goodvibes

I bought at SSR because that was what I was told was available, and I was ready to buy DVC. Now I'm working my way around, staying at the other resorts to figure out where I should add on! :)

I said BWV because we rented points there for our upcoming trip before buying into DVC recently. We didn't want to move to a different resort, so we used points to add on to our stay. It's also during Flower & Garden, so we wanted the Epcot proximity.

However, I'm getting more and more excited about SSR and think we'll happily stay there in the future. We are staying 1 night (our first) since it is our home resort and we want to go home!

I own at BVC and SSR. My SSR is a small add-on. I have yet to stay at SSR but I am looking forward to the time when we will stay there. We have stayed at OKW because of the low points and really like BVC, too. We will stay at SSR this summer. I think I'll like all the resorts!
