SSR or OKW?

we have ressies for end of august at SSR, but am now wondering if we should try OKW instead. esp. since there is a point savings, and OKW seems to have more eating options. basically we are looking for a place to chill out by the pool. have two preschoolers who love to splash around

As far as I know a new eatery is opening at SSR during the summer. However, it sounds to me like you've already decided on OKW. The kids play area at both pools are nice but I think the dolphins at OKW are really cute. If you are getting a 1 bdrm OKW is larger but with a studio you won't notice a difference between the 2 resorts.

First of all, I'll start by saying I'm not at all familiar with SSR. I only know what I do from reading here. We would like to stay at SSR one day.
I'm not sure if SSR has snack bars poolside ? I know that OKW has Goods To Go near the main pool, as well as a snack bar by the Turtle Pond pool. SSR's food options are located in the main check-in area of the resort----the Carriage House. Not sure how far that is from the pool. I heard they're planning on building a sit-down restaurant there, while OKW does have Olivia's onsite. Both, I feel, are conveniently located to the many dining options of DD though. You can boat there from OKW and either boat or walk from SSR. I think some of the buildings make for a longer walk than some others. Someone correct me if I'm wrong---but I think the Paddock section would make for the longest walk and the Congress section would be the shortest ?
On the downside, the food options at OKW pretty much close around 10 pm. Artist Pallette stays open until 11 pm which makes it much more convient for those returning from the parks and who are hungry. So that's a "plus" for SSR. I wish Goods To Go would stay open until 11 pm. I never understood that. But I have a feeling your preschoolers may be in bed by 10 pm anyway.

There are some differences with the studios. OKW will give you 2 queen beds and a somewhat larger bathroom. SSR will have 1 queen bed and 1 full-size sleeper sofa. So that may or may not affect your decision.
