We stayed at SSR over New Years and I just wanted to point out that the rooms are extremely sound proof...........what a great feature!!! Especially since we have a newborn. We couldn't hear our neighbors and I am sure they couldn't hear us. Just another great thing about SSR.

We were there at the same time. I just really enjoy how sound proof DVC is in general. Having stayed in other timeshares throughout my life, it is definitely rare not having to hear neighbors or the hallways constantly.

That being said, still could here the stomping around of the kids the floor above at SSR on our last trip. And at BCV last year we could hear the hallway noise, but in both cases it was still muted.

Having a wife who is an extremely light sleeper, it was important to us when doing our research before buying that the rooms were quiet. These boards definitely helped allay any concerns we had.

I enjoyed my first stay at SSR in early Dec..loved it...the room decor, the grounds. I never once heard my neighbors either!

The resort is very quiet and with young children, it is always a concern that your kids are being too loud and bothering people. I know at BCV, we could hear everytime a kid ran down the hall.

The rooms are definitely soundproofed. We had 42 people in our Grand Villa for dinner during our family reunion and outside the door you couldnt hear a thing.

Another thing I like about SSR, are that the pool areas are separated from the guest areas. We like to swim at night and visit the hot tub and we dont have to sneak to do it. They keep the areas well lit also.

We were also there for NY and DH and I discussed how soundprof the villas were. We have 3 children under 13 and the family next door to us had 3 boys of about the same ages. We only know this b/c we saw them playing in the halls, we never heard any sound from next door. We loved this about SSR.

When we stayed at AKV (which we also loved) we had to be very aware of our noise volume b/c the villas in Jambo open right into the hall and there is no foyer to distract the sounds. Walking down the halls in AKV you could hear everything that people were saying if they were standing in the kitchen area of their villa. We still loved it there, and are going back in July, but we do have to be careful that our kids dont disturb others.

Speaking of SSR perks...My oldest son informed me several days ago that our next trip has to be back to SSR because.......of the basketball courts! We went every morning to shoot around while mom was getting ready. Just another nice touch :thumbsup2

We have been home to SSR on two occasions and found the rooms to be incredibly soundproof.

On our first stay in January 2005 we enjoyed Room 1234 in Congress Park with a slightly obstructed view of DTD. They were still setting off the fireworks each night at midnight at that time -- I had to open the curtains to show my wife the fireworks. We could not hear them inside the room.

First, I love SSR. It is our home resort and I wouldn't pick another one. However, when we stayed there last, there had to be a newborn below us. And the only reason I think that is because in the middle of the night I awoke to crying coming from our bathroom. I searched for the sound and I think it was coming up through the pipes. I know it sounds strange, but when I put my ear to the sink, the sound became louder. And I met the neighbors next door to us - no newborn. Or maybe it was all a dream?:tink:

Hmm, SSR's first ghost story perhaps? The Phantom Baby.

:)

I was in Grandstand, and would love to leave the balcony door open, on top floor with perfect view of the pool.....right above it....and it was so relaxing to hear the water from the pool area...like a water fountain! And it was so peaceful!!

Room 8432...would love this area again in Dec!

Quiet, restful nights with no hall noise or outside traffic waking you during the night. Another SSR plus.

If quiet rooms are important to you than don't plan on staying at AKV until maybe the new building is finished. We had two studios at AKV in Nov & the noise from the hallways was unbelievable! I could hear whole conversations from people walking down the hall from my bed. I had never seen (heard) anything like it in any of the resorts.

You're right...I never heard a sound!! One night, around 2 am there were some folks in the hot ub (in Grandstand) and they werent even that loud.
(I was up trying to pack everything I bought for Christmas into 2 suitcases...lol)
