We are new DVC owners and get our first batch of points June 2005. We do not plan on making a trip in 2006, so we want to use our 2005 and 2006 next summer and take family along. With borrowing, we will have 300 points available. There will most likely be 4 (possibly 5) adults and 1 child. We want to impress our family since none of them have ever been there before, so I thought a two bedroom would be perfect.

We definitely want to go for a week, but we don't have enough points for a two bedroom at VWL, BCV, BWV. That leaves SSR (our home resort) or OKW. I would love to stay at SSR but I am not sure if I want their first impression of Disney to be of a half completed resort. Also, I don't intend to be at DTD that much this trip since we will be focusing mainly on the parks.

We could book soon for our dates at our home resort, SSR, for the week (298 pts.). But, I think I am leaning towards OKW this trip and a week there would be 278 pts. I don't want to borrow the extra points and not be able to bank them if we are able to get into OKW at seven months. Or should I just not worry about it since OKW and SSR are the easiest to get into anyway. Your thoughts are appreciated. (BTW, we don't want to move since this is their first trip and I know they would find it to be a hassle).

I don't think you can go wrong with either resort.

At SSR, assuming they begin opening one building per month starting March '05, just about everything in Phase 2 should be open by mid-summer. There may still be 2 or 3 buildings "under construction", but if the Congress Park area was any indication, by the time they are that close to opening the remaining work will mostly be on the interior of the buildings. When we visited SSR in May, the three Congress Park buildings that had not yet opened all appeared complete from the outside.

If you want to save a handful of points and just book at OKW, I'm sure you will be quite happy with the accommodations. And no, I don't think you need to worry about booking until the 7-month window opens.

If you do book SSR and borrow the points and then want to change at 7 months to OKW, depending on deadlines, you should be able to bank the extra points into the '06 use year. MS should be able to work with you so that the points that you are using first are the '06 points and so the extra ones will be '05 and if you are within the time frame, ( you should be) you can bank them.

I love OKW - but if you want to impress then go with 5 or 6 days at BWV or BCV - yes I know it is not a week - but that far in advance you can plan for less days.

I think being able to walk or boat to 2 theme parks is much more impressive.
